Combating Driver Shortages with Combined Transport
8. October 2021Together with the terminal operator HHLA, Hamburg Port Authority (HPA), and Hafen Hamburg Marketing (HHM), as well as 13 other partners, the Logistics Initiative Hamburg will be represented at the ITS World Congress at Gateway Hamburg from October 11 to 15. The joint stand will serve as a central point of contact for logistics professionals and anyone interested in the industry and the Hamburg location.
(Hamburg) Those who want to take a look at the future of the port and logistics are exactly right at the joint stand Gateway Hamburg at the ITS World Congress: From an intelligent beacon system (traffic signs and barriers in road traffic) from the start-up CM1 to IT solutions (including from DAKOSY and Lufthansa Industry Solutions) and port services (HPA, HHLA) to intelligent solutions for the penultimate (Smart City Loop) and last mile (ParcelLock), the Logistics Initiative Hamburg (LIHH) will present the wide range of projects and solutions from the metropolitan region. In addition, the partner companies ALE Deutschland, Fujitsu, IVECO, Mobility Green, and PTV Group, as well as Shell, Smart City Loop, UES Chassis, and VTG will provide exciting insights into the multifaceted world of logistics, mobility, and IT at the joint exhibition stand (Hall B4 Stand 230).
The ITS World Congress, which takes place annually but only every three years in Europe, is the world’s largest and most significant event focused on intelligent mobility and the digitalization of transport. For the first time, the global ITS community will meet under the motto “Experience Future Mobility Now” from October 11 to 15 in Hamburg.
Diverse Future Projects in One Place
Decisive for the success of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg as the host was, among other things, that in the Elbe metropolis, in addition to passenger mobility (including automated and connected driving, mobility services such as Mobility as a Service, and sustainable mobility), goods mobility is also showcased. This includes, for example, digital port and logistics solutions, intelligent infrastructure, and urban airspace, as will be presented at the stand of “Gateway Hamburg”. In this context, the LIHH will present five important future projects: “Hansebloc”, “Avatar”, “ePIcenter”, “VeVoTras”, and “medifly”.
The project AVATAR focuses on testing innovative and sustainable urban goods transport concepts with autonomous and emission-free ships in an urban context for shifting traffic from road to water (e.g., fleets, canals, waterways) on the last mile. As part of the official congress program, Thomas Brauner, project manager for innovation at LIHH, will present the current project status on October 14 at 4:00 PM. Konstantin Graf (Consider it) will present the project “Hansebloc” on the same panel, which aims to develop solutions for secure information transmission between the participants in the supply chain to reduce the significant manual effort involved so far.
The project “ePIcenter” unites 36 partners – including port authorities, logistics service providers, manufacturers, academic institutions, and technology partners – across Europe and beyond to develop and test AI-driven logistics software solutions, new transport technologies, and supporting methods. This aims to increase the efficiency of global supply chains and reduce their environmental impact.
As part of the project “VeVoTras“, the intelligent networking of free environmental, mobility, and traffic data with data from transport management systems of service providers in the logistics and transport sector (groupage) and loading companies based on software-supported interfaces and a matching module aims to optimize planning processes and resource use for logistics providers.
The project “medifly“, a medical air freight service that uses unmanned aerial vehicles for the transport of urgently needed medical goods, is represented at HomePort, an innovation campus located in the heart of the Hamburg port and an urban maritime real laboratory aimed at providing innovative and ambitious port actors, science, technology companies, and start-ups with a space to experiment, collaborate, and engage with other partners and stakeholders.
The Ladies Logistics Lounge Hamburg (LLL), which is supported by LIHH among others, invites you to a panel discussion on the topic “Gender & Inclusion: Mobility Solutions for All” on October 12 from 4:00 to 4:45 PM at the ITS Germany stage, where Women in Mobility (WiM), a network of women in the mobility sector, and LLL will discuss inclusive and gender-equitable mobility solutions with Hamburg Senator and Second Mayor Katharina Fegebank. Another panel by WiM on the topic “Close the gap: on-demand solutions for efficient mobility systems” will also take place on October 12, starting at 2:00 PM at the CCH.
In addition, the largest stand in Hall B4, covering over 400 square meters, offers ideal opportunities for networking, including discussions in the community lounge.
