12. October 2021The logistics startup Saloodo! enables transport orders to be issued via its digital freight platform, leading from the EU to Switzerland and vice versa from Switzerland to the EU. Saloodo! is one of the first freight exchanges to offer this service. There is a partnership with Gerlach for customs services. Further customs-requiring countries are in planning
(Bonn) Saloodo!, the digital freight platform, now also offers transport services from Switzerland to the EU and vice versa. The logistics startup is thus one of the first to enable Swiss transports through its freight exchange. Saloodo! has also considered customs clearance.
Transport from the EU to customs-requiring countries like Switzerland often poses challenges for exporting companies. The bureaucratic hurdles and the customs clearance process can be daunting. As a result, small and medium-sized enterprises often forgo the business opportunities that trade with Switzerland presents. The same applies in reverse, as Swiss companies also face challenges when exporting their goods to the EU.
This is precisely where the logistics startup Saloodo! comes in, allowing companies for the first time to issue transport orders via its digital freight platform, leading from the EU to Switzerland and vice versa from Switzerland to the EU – and the demand is high. The reactions from shippers to the new option of requesting Swiss transports demonstrate this: Saloodo! has registered more than 16,000 transport requests for these routes within a few months.
Swiss Transports Already a Great Success
Saloodo! customers do not have to deal with the mandatory customs processes either. Companies can either use their own customs service provider or rely entirely on Saloodo!’s cooperation partner for customs.
“Saloodo! ensures seamless cross-border and market transport processing worldwide. Through our successful market entries in the Middle East, Africa, and most recently South America, we have gained extensive experience with transports to customs-relevant countries, which now benefits us. We are now continuing our strategic growth in Europe by also offering Swiss transports,” explains Dr. Antje Huber, CEO of Saloodo!. “Together with our cooperation partner Gerlach, the leading customs service provider in Europe, we can offer our customers fast and reliable customs clearance. We are continuously working towards our vision of a world where logistics is intelligent, digitized, and sustainable.”
Simplified Customs Clearance
Thanks to the partnership with Gerlach Customs Services, companies always have a competent expert by their side to support them throughout the customs process. The company was founded in 1881 and thus has over 140 years of experience in customs clearance. With a network of 170 offices in 27 European countries and more than 1,000 customs experts, Gerlach covers the entire spectrum of customs services. For Thomas Weins, CEO of Gerlach Germany, the collaboration is proof of the strong customer orientation of both companies: “The benefits for customers are clear: After they have expressed their customs needs for the transport order on the Saloodo! platform, they can seamlessly continue with the other customs-relevant steps with us. This makes transports to Switzerland or from Switzerland to the EU incredibly simple and quick.”
Efficient and Easy
One company that regularly ships to Switzerland via Saloodo! and utilizes the services of Gerlach Customs Services is Flight13 Duplication from Pforzheim, Germany. The company offers duplication of CDs, DVDs, and vinyl records and delivers to customers across Europe. “We have, of course, delivered our goods to Switzerland before, but it has never been as easy as it is with Saloodo!. We place our transport order on the platform, select the suitable freight forwarder from the offers we receive, and book the transport. Within a short time, we are then contacted by the Gerlach employees who handle the customs clearance. It is really very efficient and easy,” says Björn Bieber, Managing Director of Flight13 Duplication.
Agile Implementation of Customer Requests
With the integration of transports to/from Switzerland, Saloodo! once again demonstrates its digital leadership and agile implementation of customer requests. This customer-centricity is already experienced daily by more than 30,000 shippers and over 12,000 transport companies in more than 50 countries across 4 continents. Since its founding in 2016, Saloodo! has continuously expanded into growth markets outside of Europe, such as the Middle East, Africa, and South America. Last year, Saloodo! launched the first unified global digital freight marketplace for road transports, enabling seamless cross-border and market transport processing. Most recently, the logistics startup also launched its digital freight platform in Argentina and released a “Closed Shop” feature, allowing companies to offer their transport orders only to a closed user group of pre-selected transport service providers.
