Impact of Corona Drives Warehouse Automation in Frozen Logistics
18. October 2021The construction of the new logistics center of the Seifert Logistics Group (SLG) is progressing as planned. Starting in 2022, Seifert will also take over parts of the contract logistics for the Husqvarna Group. The location is situated near the A8 and A7 motorways, with direct access via the Ulm Nord exit and close to the Ulm container terminal.
(Ulm) During the planning phase, the contract logistics provider Seifert from Ulm earmarked the construction of a second phase as a development opportunity. Due to the increasing demand for storage space, the construction work will seamlessly transition into the second phase. Overall, the managed logistics area in northern Ulm will be expanded by 50,000 square meters by 2022. The logistics areas will be divided into five hall sections.
In the spirit of a long-term partnership, SLG will take over various contract logistics services for the Husqvarna Group starting in 2022. With this step, the contract logistics provider from Ulm deepens its business relationship with the company, which also includes the Gardena Division based in Ulm. The Husqvarna Group is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of innovative solutions for forestry, landscaping, and gardening, currently employing around 2,190 people in the Ulm region.
Comprehensive Supply Chain Management
SLG will take over the comprehensive supply chain management of the utilized logistics areas. “We are pleased with the trust and the expansion of the partnership with the Husqvarna Group. With direct access to the container terminal, we not only manage over 60,000 pallet spaces but also handle the incoming containers,” says Axel Frey, COO. “The continued growth of our brands requires a significant expansion of our capacities, not least in logistics. With SLG, we have found a partner that has convinced us with its concept,” emphasizes Wolfgang Engelhardt, Vice President Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Sourcing, Gardena Division of the Husqvarna Group.
