Humbaur focuses on climate-neutral parcel shipping and CO2 compensation

The trailer and vehicle body specialist from Gersthofen not only places great importance on its regional location in Bavaria. At the same time, the company aims to make both the production and shipping of its goods as environmentally friendly as possible. One approach to improving its own CO₂ footprint is climate-neutral shipping.

The company not only supports the German medium-sized businesses but also provides over 600 jobs for people from the surrounding area. With this and in connection with the company-wide project “Bike Leasing,” the company aims to help reduce its own emissions. The topic is being addressed consciously. Employees are motivated with appropriate incentives to cycle to work. Additionally, (E-)scooters and bicycles are used on the company premises. The vehicle fleet is increasingly being converted to electric and hybrid vehicles. But that’s not all. Humbaur also relies on climate-neutral solutions for shipping and additionally promotes climate protection projects worldwide.

100% climate-neutral parcel shipping as a contribution to environmental protection

For shipping its products, the company relies on the GLS KlimaProtect program. This ensures that the parcels are shipped completely climate-neutral. All CO₂ emissions generated during transport are offset by investments in a certified forest protection and reforestation project (VCS/CCB standard). Since 2019, parcels have been delivered climate-neutrally by the transport provider. This applies to both domestic shipments within Germany and parcels sent abroad. CO₂ emissions caused are compensated annually by protecting existing forests and planting new trees. In addition, GLS implements further measures such as using sustainable electricity at all German locations, increasing the use of electric vehicles, setting up city-close micro-depots, and promoting emission-free deliveries in city centers. The family business is proud to be part of this program and to contribute sustainably to climate protection.

Humbaur as a partner in climate protection

To further offset greenhouse gas emissions, the trailer and vehicle body specialist also supports the forest protection project in Portel, Brazil, as a partner in climate protection. This allows the company to offset over 52,000 kg of CO₂ equivalents annually. The project enables Amazon residents to acquire the corresponding land rights. This prevents large agricultural enterprises from simply clearing and cultivating unused land. In this way, not only is the rainforest with its biodiversity protected, but the livelihoods of local residents are also secured, allowing them to sustainably cultivate the land as small farmers.

To protect the environment and ensure a sustainable future, the company from Gersthofen relies on various climate protection projects. From climate-neutral shipping to supporting the residents of the Amazon. In this way, Humbaur offsets a large part of the necessary CO₂ emissions.
