30. October 2021Contargo AG is improving its service between Rotterdam and Basel, as well as the surrounding areas in Germany and France, starting mid-November. From then on, the trains named “Basel Westport Shuttle” will operate five times a week instead of the previous three times a week between Basel Bad./Weil UBF and the Rotterdam seaports in both directions.
(Basel) Worldwide, supply chains are currently under high pressure. Therefore, the team at Contargo AG in Basel is particularly pleased to significantly expand the capacities of an existing product.
Starting November 15, 2021, Contargo will increase the frequency of its BWS Basel-Westport Shuttle by an additional two, bringing the total to five round trips per week. The new connection ensures a stable and reliable rail link between the seaport of Rotterdam and the tri-border area of Switzerland – Germany – France. The increase in shuttles to the Rotterdam seaport terminals (Maasvlakte and Container Terminal Twente) also contributes to a reduction in CO2 emissions. Both sea containers and trailers can be loaded on this route.

Expanded Offer Available for Booking Now
The expanded offer can be booked as before through Contargo’s web booking portal, which also displays a capacity overview and is available now.
The increase in round trips will also alleviate the issue of parking or storage costs at the Basel Bad. UBF station (for export cargo).
