Gebrüder Weiss achieves climate neutrality with “zero emissions”

With the “zero emissions” service, customers of Gebrüder Weiss can offset the CO₂ footprint of their goods transports and support certified climate protection projects. The emissions determined using a web-based database are displayed on the freight invoice along with the corresponding offset costs.

(Lauterach) Customers of Gebrüder Weiss can fully offset the CO₂ emissions caused by the transport of their goods starting November 1, 2021. With the new “zero emissions” service, the transport and logistics provider calculates and documents the CO₂ emissions for each shipment transported worldwide by road, rail, sea, and air.

Wolfram Senger-Weiss, Chairman of the Management Board at Gebrüder Weiss: “With ‘zero emissions’, our customers receive a complete overview of the CO₂ footprint of their shipments. This supports them on their path to climate neutrality and a balanced ecological footprint.”

The emissions determined using the web-based database EcoTransIT are displayed on the freight invoice along with the corresponding offset costs. Payments made by customers for offsets flow into certified climate protection projects on various continents. All carefully selected and monitored climate protection projects have in common that they avoid or significantly reduce CO₂ emissions. For the compensation, users receive a certificate that confirms their support for the project.

Operating own logistics facilities climate-neutral by 2030

Gebrüder Weiss not only accompanies its clients on the path to climate neutrality, but the company has also set ambitious climate goals for itself. By 2030, the logistics provider aims to operate its own logistics properties completely climate-neutral using electricity from photovoltaic systems. In addition, the company has various low-emission trucks in operation, powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG, CNG), electricity, or hydrogen (fuel cell).
