3. November 2021As of October 6th, the digital start-up Cargoboard GmbH & Co. KG has established a subsidiary in Linz. The advantages of the innovative freight forwarding platform are intended to facilitate transport processes for Austrian customers as well. The operational business commenced today, November 3, 2021.
(Paderborn) To drive the internationalization of the company and thus gain a long-term competitive advantage, Cargoboard founded its first subsidiary, Cargoboard Austria GmbH, based in Linz, on October 6, 2021.
As a digital freight forwarder, Cargoboard coordinates the handling of general cargo shipments across Europe through the CargoLine logistics network. The goal of the subsidiary will be to provide the customer service advantages enjoyed by German customers to Austrian customers as well, ranging from small businesses to medium-sized enterprises. Austrian customers will particularly benefit from the establishment in terms of customs clearance, as they will experience the same service standards as German customers, allowing for clearer cost allocation and risk minimization. This will eliminate potential barriers for Austrian customers.
The operational business is set to commence on November 3rd at cargoboard.at, ensuring that the Austrian customer base can be reached directly at market launch.
The Future Has Already Begun
With the founding of Cargoboard GmbH & Co. KG in April 2019, the founders created a digital freight forwarding platform in collaboration with CargoLine that sustainably reduces the overall transport costs for customers and offers a user-friendly interface within the platform ecosystem. Cargoboard’s digital business model as a transport platform is based on simplifying the entire booking process for its customers through transparent cost calculations and online booking with just a few clicks, as well as taking over the complete service and transport handling.
Cargoboard targets shippers of B2B and B2C general cargo shipments within Europe. Customers can book their shipments with just a few clicks and choose additional services through the platform, such as seamless track & trace, damage claims, customs clearance, etc. As a digital freight forwarder, Cargoboard positions itself as a digital link between the shipper and the transport company. Cargoboard is unique in its focus on the general cargo market and excels with its clear customer focus.
To further unlock the existing potential of the business model internationally and optimize logistics processes, Cargoboard has established a second location in Austria. Primarily, Cargoboard is building on the expertise of its freight forwarding partner G. Englmayer, founded in 1858, based in Wels. The Englmayer Group currently employs over 500 staff who handle approximately 2 million shipments annually. The Eastern European market is particularly well served, with subsidiaries in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia, and Serbia.
As a result, Cargoboard customers will increasingly benefit from local expertise and individual logistics solutions for transports to and from Austria.
Linz as a Logistics Hub
Austria, as one of Germany’s most important trading partners, is strategically an optimal country for Cargoboard’s European orientation. Additionally, Austria offers a highly developed infrastructure and ideal access to the Central and Eastern European markets.
Particularly, Linz as a logistics hub for road, rail, and shipping traffic provides optimal conditions. Through targeted investments, the city has developed into a modern logistics service center in recent years and is the largest economic location in the central region of Upper Austria. Linz is an attractive location for logistics, trade, and production companies with its four Danube ports.
Internationalization
In the future, Cargoboard aims to increasingly operate internationally to flexibly respond to customer needs and opportunities in the logistics market. The founders of Cargoboard see great potential in the Austrian location and look forward to further collaboration with local customers, excited to be represented in the important DACH region for Cargoboard.
