MLP Group develops Thyssen site in Gelsenkirchen-Schalke
15. November 2021Honold Green Building Development, an innovative developer of sustainable logistics properties, celebrated the topping-out ceremony for the Green Cube in Dettingen am Albuch on November 12, 2021. About 40 representatives from business, politics, and media took the opportunity to inform themselves on-site about the new logistics center despite the dense fog.
(PresseBox; Neu-Ulm/Dettingen) Located 20 kilometers north of Ulm, directly on the A7, a technologically advanced logistics property is being developed on a total area of 80,000 square meters at one of the most important north-south axes in Germany. The costs are in the double-digit million range and are part of Honold’s expansion strategy.
According to Managing Director Heiner-Matthias Honold, construction of the approximately 40,000 square meter logistics hall is progressing rapidly. The focus of the property development was entirely on sustainability. In addition to photovoltaic systems, green roofs, and electric charging stations, a gold certification from the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) is being pursued. The name “Honold Green Cube” is intended to emphasize this. The motto “Logistics is green” has been at the center of Honold’s philosophy for a long time.
Heiner-Matthias Honold expressed his gratitude in his speech for the trust placed by administration and politics at “any time.” He also assures that it is personally important to him that promises are kept.
Demand Development is Satisfactory
Heiner-Matthias Honold expressed satisfaction with the demand development. “We are negotiating with several interested parties and are optimistic about signing further contracts before Christmas. Furthermore, 25% of the area has already been allocated to one of the most important high-tech companies in the region.”
Roland Polaschek, Mayor of the municipality of Gerstetten, briefly touched on the history of the project and emphasized the economic significance of the industry: “Logistics companies are already the second-largest employer in Baden-Württemberg. We are pleased about the up to 100 jobs that will be created here in the Ostalb region and see this settlement as a win-win situation.”
The event was held in strict compliance with all current Corona regulations. The theme of sustainability was implemented through a minimal waste concept. The completion of the property is expected in autumn 2023.
