26. November 2021Recently, the Munich logistics service provider GROUP7 has obtained the ISO 27001 certification. This certification confirms the assurance of confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information according to their respective protection needs at the certified companies. “46 percent of all companies in Germany have experienced a cyber attack in the last 12 months, according to Statista.
(Munich) To ensure that GROUP7 can withstand such attacks in the future, we have made significant efforts years ago and consistently invested in data protection. With the ISO 27001 certification, we have once again put our processes to the test and further increased data security,” comments Günther Jocher, CEO of GROUP7, on the motivation for undertaking the certification process.
Customer feedback on the certification is very positive
The certification was awarded to GROUP7 by the BSI Group, a company that is among the international market leaders in standards and certifications. The certification applies to all logistics locations of GROUP7 in Germany. The successful certification team at GROUP7 included Thomas Wiederspahn, Head of Quality Management, Klaus Spielmann, Authorized Signatory and Head of the Legal Department, and Carsten Cramer, IT Systems Engineer. “The initial feedback from our customers regarding the certification is very positive. Data security is increasingly moving up the priority list in the selection criteria for logistics service providers,” explains Spielmann.
Processes and workflows examined
As part of the ISO 27001, the project team scrutinized many processes and workflows. This included, among other things, the protection of valuable and sensitive information from unauthorized access, maintaining the integrity of data against unauthorized or unintentional changes, effective access controls to sensitive areas, and effective risk management. “In addition to reviewing processes and workflows, raising awareness among our employees was a matter close to our hearts. Because consistent data protection can only work if everyone at their workplace knows the risks and applies the corresponding security regulations,” concludes Wiederspahn.
