26. November 2021Olaf Schabirosky (Hermes) and Prof. Dr. Michael Feindt (Blue Yonder) were honored as “TRATON Logistics Leader of the Year” for the years 2020 and 2021. The award ceremony took place on November 25 during the gala reception of the Logistics Hall of Fame in Berlin.
(Berlin) Olaf Schabirosky (CEO of Hermes Germany) and Prof. Dr. Michael Feindt (co-founder of Blue Yonder) were recognized as “TRATON Logistics Leader of the Year” for the years 2020 and 2021, respectively. Christian Levin, CEO of TRATON GROUP, praised Schabirosky in his speech as a “modernizer who has significantly advanced the expansion of infrastructure and digitalization of the KEP service provider, even during the COVID-19 pandemic.” Not least due to the intelligent change management of the 53-year-old manager and the corporate culture he exemplifies, the Hermes Group was able to increase its revenue in the 2019/2020 fiscal year by 9.0 percent to 3.5 billion euros.
Schabirosky made headlines in the media in 2020, while Michael Feindt achieved this in 2021. The Japanese electronics company Panasonic invested more than 8.5 billion US dollars a few months ago in the software company Blue Yonder, co-founded by Feindt. The 63-year-old physicist took a leave of absence as a professor at the University of Karlsruhe to transfer his expertise in data-driven software development and artificial intelligence to the business world. Algorithms from Blue Yonder improve predictions regarding pricing and inventory management and have opened up significant rationalization potentials, especially in retail.
The Logistics Industry Thrives on Influential Personalities
Christian Levin, CEO of TRATON GROUP: “The logistics industry owes a significant part of its great success to influential personalities like Olaf Schabirosky and Prof. Dr. Michael Feindt. We need their knowledge and creativity to achieve sustainable transport as quickly as possible. With Prof. Feindt’s software, for example, companies can make their supply chains more resource-efficient. And we need the support of politics to set the right incentives for purchasing alternatively powered trucks and buses better today than tomorrow and to advance the expansion of the urgently needed charging network in Europe.”
The Logistics Hall of Fame honors individuals who have made exceptional contributions to the development of logistics and supply chain management. It is under the patronage of the Federal Minister for Transport and Digital Infrastructure. The “TRATON Logistics Leader of the Year” award recognizes entrepreneurs and managers who have made particularly successful contributions to their companies or have set a pioneering impulse. The focus is on relevance and the benefit to the company.
