LIP Acquires Logistics Property in Kitzingen and Leases to BLG
30. November 2021For the Luminator Technology Group, the relocation specialist Harder Logistics is currently taking over the complete relocation of the development and production site from Ulm to Neu-Ulm. Luminator Technology Group is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of digital information systems, video surveillance systems, and lighting solutions for public transport by bus, train, and air.
(Neu-Ulm) “A comprehensive project has been entrusted to us by Luminator with the relocation of their site from Ulm to Neu-Ulm. It involves the relocation of production and development facilities, numerous offices, the logistics area including IT and additional services,” reports Lothar Kniess, project manager at Harder Logistics. The logistics provider has set about four months for the implementation. By the end of December this year, everything should be rebuilt at the new location on Carl-Zeiss-Straße.
In total, about 80 truckloads will be required to transport the entire inventory, estimates Kniess. This includes approximately 150 workplaces. At the new location of Luminator in Neu-Ulm, stationary displays for bus and train stops will be developed and produced. Additionally, the technology center for displays and controllers will be located there, where TFT modules for the global market will be produced. The TFT modules designed according to customer needs will be manufactured and tested in their own clean rooms. Among other things, Harder Logistics is also responsible for the construction of the new clean room within the production line. This will be delivered in parts by container from China. “We specialize in the installation of clean rooms. Due to the special sensitivity, we work with a zero-error tolerance,” says Kniess.
Special Solution for Server Room Module
Particularly tricky for Kniess was the installation of a server room module into the new building. The fully equipped 20-foot container DC CONT DataCenter Container, including UPS, climate control, fire prevention, RCS racks, and raised flooring, weighed about eight tons. Its destination was the third floor of the industrial building at a height of eight meters. “To maneuver the module through the 3.5 m narrow facade opening, we used our special construction – a so-called assembly platform. Additionally, we installed 20 construction supports in the ceiling below due to the weak ceiling load,” Kniess mentions some details. Once inside the building, the team continued with precision work. Initially, the container was transported on armored rollers. Due to the low ceiling height, there wasn’t even enough space for the 120 mm high armored rollers, so Harder Logistics built a special construction for this tight spot.
