Freight Forwarding Company Robert Kukla Establishes Branch in Thessaloniki
7. December 2021RIO, the digital brand of the TRATON GROUP, has successfully completed the acquisition of Loom Technologies GmbH from Paderborn. The corresponding purchase agreement was already signed in July 2021. The closing took place on December 6, 2021. With this strategic acquisition, RIO enhances its manufacturer-independent logistics platform with transport management solutions, significantly expanding its services for carriers.
(Munich/Paderborn) The TMS Cartright from Loom, a comprehensive product portfolio for transport management and order communication, enables efficient planning, control, and optimization of goods flows. The software will be further developed and marketed under the RIO brand in the future.
“The current challenge in global supply chains is to find collaborative approaches for all stakeholders involved – from carriers to freight forwarders to shippers. It must be ensured that significant added value is created for all these parties. With the strategic acquisition of Loom Technologies, we are taking an important step in this direction. We are expanding our service offerings and will be able to better connect our activities on the shipper and freight forwarder side in the future,” says Jan Kaumanns, CEO of RIO. “With the integration of Loom, we are also deepening our extensive expertise in logistics IT as well as in the development of web-based, modular, and individually configurable IT services and interfaces.”
Loom Technologies was founded in 2015 in Paderborn. With the TMS Cartright, the young company, which has around 25 employees, has so far focused on optimizing logistics processes as well as cost savings and ease of use. The TMS Cartright, which will be marketed under the RIO brand in the future, is configurable according to customer requirements, multilingual, and compatible with users’ IT systems thanks to various interfaces. Since the TMS operates on a web-based platform, users do not need their own servers. Around 150 freight forwarders are already using the system. With the modular structure and the expanded interface concept from RIO, customers will be able to build their own individual ecosystem for their specific requirements in the future or modularly expand an already existing system landscape. The customer will thus be able to decide which providers they want to integrate into their business processes for fleet and transport management, order, and driver communication.
Modular Structure
The TMS Cartright has a modular structure and can be booked in the future as a basic or pro version. The modules for dispatching, personnel and fleet management, master data management, controlling, driver app, warehouse management, invoicing, and accounting, as well as support and interfaces differ for clients depending on the version booked. In addition, the pro version features a customer and supplier portal that allows for easy integration of subcontractors.
Connecting Different Systems
“The future of logistics is connected. For this, we need more collaboration among the participants in the supply chain. Open interfaces and modular approaches are in demand, with which we can connect different systems. With the acquisition of Loom, we are taking a significant step closer to our fundamental idea of more coopetition. This supports our customers in building an individual transport ecosystem that they can tailor to their needs,” explains RIO CEO Jan Kaumanns.
