Transporeon Acquires Real-Time Platform Logit One
9. December 2021The logistics service provider CargoBeamer is expanding its connection network starting at the beginning of next year. From January 10, 2022, goods will be transported environmentally friendly by rail between Kaldenkirchen in Germany and Perpignan at the French-Spanish border. This is an important development step for the location in Kaltenkirchen.
(Leipzig) The patented CargoBeamer system allows for the transport of all types of semi-trailers, containers, P400 trailers, refrigerated and tank trailers, as well as other types of goods on the new route between Kaldenkirchen and Perpignan, without requiring modifications for customers.
At the start in January, three trains will initially operate weekly in each direction. From mid-February, the frequency will permanently increase to five round trips per week. As a traction partner, CargoBeamer will collaborate with DB Cargo France (formerly Euro Cargo Rail). The new German-French route is the company’s sixth connection overall, with five of the six lines added to the network in the past six months.
Strengthening hubs in Germany and France
CargoBeamer is already active at both locations with additional routes. Since 2015, the company has been serving its first connection from Kaldenkirchen towards Domodossola, with the economically strong region in western Germany and proximity to the Belgian and Dutch markets ensuring consistently high utilization rates. In southern France, CargoBeamer has been operating a route to Calais on the English Channel since summer 2021. Furthermore, there are numerous opportunities for maritime onward transport and the extension of transport routes to Spain from Perpignan.
Positioning towards Northern Spain
Matthias Schadler, Managing Director of CargoBeamer intermodal operations GmbH, says: “After significantly expanding our network this year, we are pleased to offer our customers the next attractive line starting in January 2022. With the expansion of our services in Perpignan, we are not only serving the southern French market but also positioning ourselves towards Northern Spain with the strong region around Barcelona. Additionally, the addition of another route is also an important development step for our location in Kaldenkirchen, where we will soon begin constructing our own transshipment terminal.”
