Combined Transport with More Train Departures to and from Mortara
13. December 2021The GROUP7 executives, construction management, and representatives of the general contractor met for the groundbreaking ceremony of the new logistics center in Hamburg. Together with the GROUP7 logistics centers in Frankfurt, Munich-Parsdorf, at Munich Airport, and in Neuss, this building represents the fifth logistics center in the group.
(Munich/Hamburg) In the Hamburg district of Billbrook, a new building is being constructed on a plot of land measuring 40,000 square meters, featuring 26,000 square meters of logistics space and approximately 2,000 square meters of office space. “It is not a matter of course to stand here today. The pandemic has dictated new processes and procedures for all of us. Therefore, I would like to express my gratitude to the city of Hamburg, especially the economic development and building authority, for their excellent support during the approval process,” explains Günther Jocher, board member of GROUP7. In autumn 2022, the logistics service provider headquartered in Munich plans to put the new building into operation.
The next construction phase will involve setting up columns and wall elements
The path to the groundbreaking was not a short one: Due to the soil conditions of the site, around 5,500 vibro-compacted columns had to be installed in advance. The columns were made from recycled concrete from a former highway and already strengthen the foundation of the planned property. After the groundbreaking, the structural phase will begin, during which the columns and wall elements will be installed. The logistics center is to be certified by the DGNB (German Sustainable Building Council) and, like all GROUP7 logistics centers, aims to achieve Gold certification.
Brilliant energy balance with an annual saving of 850,000 kWh
GROUP7 also focuses on sustainability in construction: The site will be equipped with a photovoltaic system, innovative heat pump systems will enhance heating efficiency, and a green roof will provide not only insulation benefits but also ecological advantages.
Together with many other innovations, this contributes to the fact that the GROUP7 logistics center saves around 850,000 kWh of energy annually compared to a reference building. This is roughly equivalent to the consumption of 14,000 refrigerators per year. The building planning and execution are carried out according to the high standard of the KfW Efficiency House 55. “I would like to thank our general contractor, KLEBL GmbH, and all other parties involved for the excellent collaboration. We see it as our responsibility as GROUP7 to create high-quality, modern workplaces for our employees while also promoting sustainability. Together with our partners, we will succeed in this endeavor,” concludes Daniel Jocher, project manager at GROUP7.
