VTG Rail Russia (OOO “VTG”), a Russian subsidiary of the leading European wagon leasing and rail logistics company VTG AG, has signed another contract for the delivery of 40′ container flatcars with RM Rail, one of the most significant Russian manufacturers of freight cars.
(Hamburg/Moscow/Saransk) RM Rail will produce 250 units of 40′ container flatcars for VTG Rail Russia. The model 13-1258-01 is suitable for transporting various types of containers with a gross weight of up to 36 tons, as well as for tank containers. Additional container pins secure the containers even under difficult weather conditions – such as gusts of wind over 20 m/s – for which special securing devices have been developed. The load capacity is 72 tons, and the axle load is 23.5 tons. The cars are designed for a service life of approximately 32 years.
The delivery of the first cars is expected to start this year. The contract will be fulfilled in 2022. As part of VTG Tanktainer’s planned business expansion in Russia, VTG Rail Russia intends to use these cars for the transportation of VTG’s own tank containers. The manufacturing will take place at the AO “Ruzkhimmasch” plant, where cement hopper cars (model 19-1217), liquefied gas tank cars for LPG (models 15-1200-02 and 15-1209), as well as various modifications of mineral oil tank cars for VTG Rail Russia have previously been produced.
