The BLV-pro Calls on Shippers and Clients for Fair Payment
10. January 2022Codognotto Italia SpA – an internationally leading company in the global transport and logistics sector, and Tevva Motors Limited, a British pioneer for electric and hydrogen trucks, announce a new collaboration to test e-mobility on the road. Codognotto intends to procure 50 units in the near future.
(Salgareda/Tilbury) Tevva aims to supply vehicles to Codognotto, and Codognotto aims for Tevva, subject to successful testing, to prove itself as a suitable supplier of emission-free delivery vehicles to achieve Codognotto’s emission targets. Codognotto’s demand for emission-free medium-duty vehicles is expected to be 50 units in the near future.
The issue of decarbonizing transport is a pressing priority for governments and companies worldwide as the fight against climate change intensifies. According to the European Environment Agency, transport accounts for one-third of total final energy consumption in the EU, with most of this energy coming from oil, and cars, vans, trucks, and buses cause over 70% of total greenhouse gas emissions from transport.
In line with the goals of the European Green Deal and the “Fit for 55” climate package, Codognotto and Tevva believe that emission-free vehicles are the solution. The two companies met at the ALICE Round Table (the Alliance for Logistics Innovation through Collaboration in Europe – ETP LOGISTICS). This has led to the common goal of demonstrating the operational, commercial, and ecological effectiveness of Tevva Trucks for Codognotto transports through a testing and evaluation program.
Tevva Collects Data for a Prototype
Tevva has recently installed data logging devices in the current delivery vehicles of Codognotto. These are in regular operation, and the collected data includes the distance traveled per day, fuel consumption, shift duration, and average speeds. This will enable Tevva to create a set of benchmark requirements that will contribute to the development of a “Codognotto Work Cycle.” Based on the collected data, Tevva will create prototypes and series vehicles that correspond to the work cycle of current Codognotto trucks on the road.
Great Opportunity for Green Logistics
“This is a great opportunity not only for us but for the entire logistics and transport industry. In the past, carriers adapted to the available solutions; today, they are created according to demand – a small revolution with a significant impact on the market. For us, the topic of sustainable logistics is concrete, and we are always looking for new solutions, projects, and collaborations. With Codognotto Austria, we are participating in the European e-SMART project for the e-Mobility Smart Grid for passenger and freight transport in the last mile in the Alpine region. The collaboration with Tevva certainly aligns with our activities at the European level and with the new green vision of the group from a few years ago,” said Matteo Codognotto, Director of Marketing and Innovation at Codognotto.
