15. January 2022Transporeon announces two acquisitions that further expand the capacities of its network as part of its international growth strategy. By integrating SupplyStack, Transporeon introduces multimodal and partial load functions on its global transport management platform and expands its offerings for freight forwarders through the acquisition of Nexogen.
(Neu-Ulm) With the acquisition of SupplyStack and Nexogen, Transporeon customers once again benefit from the modular offering of the transport management platform’s services. New features are directly embedded into the Transporeon network. This way, Transporeon provides user-friendly solutions for optimizing transport processes that are tailored to customers’ in-house IT as well as their respective resource planning (ERP) and transport management systems (TMS). In this way, Transporeon enables its customers to successfully operate in a market that increasingly demands sustainability, time efficiency, and lower costs.
Transporeon Acquires SupplyStack
Following the acquisition of Logit One, a specialist in multimodal planning and sea transport visibility in December 2021, Transporeon is now integrating SupplyStack into its transport management platform. This strengthens Transporeon’s competence in planning multimodal and partial load transports.
Transporeon customers gain access to a planning and execution tool that can process partial loads across all transport modes through the acquisition. This optimizes transport planning, order allocation, and execution for its customers. Processes are automated and made more efficient.
After an integration phase, SupplyStack customers will gain access to Transporeon’s carrier network, platform services, freight procurement, and rate management, as well as spot assignment, freight billing, and audit services.
Additionally, customers benefit from the integration of Transporeon’s Real-Time Visibility (RTV) services from Sixfold. This means that carriers and shippers do not need a separate application for tracking deliveries. The integration of features into a central application allows companies to better serve their customers and increase their own efficiency, thus laying the foundation for a more sustainable supply chain.
Need for Supply Chain Transparency
Transporeon CEO Stephan Sieber comments: “There is an increasing need in the supply chain to improve transparency in deliveries, reduce costs, and at the same time make freight transport more sustainable. The expansion of our platform with tools for planning and executing multimodal and partial load transports through the acquisition of SupplyStack gives our customers the necessary flexibility to achieve these goals.”
Nick Poels, founder and CEO of SupplyStack, adds: “Alone we are strong, but together we are stronger. This acquisition is a milestone for our mission to revolutionize freight transport. The combination of SupplyStack’s transport management solutions with Transporeon’s network will enable our customers to benefit from our solutions—across all transport modes and in international supply chains as well as on domestic roads. Accordingly, we are excited to become part of the Transporeon family. Here, our customers from various industries can manage their logistics processes in a real network.”
Transporeon Acquires Nexogen
To support freight forwarders in managing their fleets, Transporeon acquires Nexogen. The Software as a Service (SaaS) company specializes in AI-based transport planning in road transport, helping carriers and logistics service providers improve the utilization of their vehicles. The software optimizes the allocation of available capacity to orders and coordinates drivers and routes.
Transporeon already offers a comprehensive service portfolio for freight forwarders and logistics service providers. The Transporeon services in this area range from market intelligence, RTV in sea, air, and road transport to autonomous freight procurement and document management. Through the acquisition of Nexogen and the integration of the AI planner and AI operator, Transporeon further strengthens its comprehensive carrier service portfolio.
- The Nexogen AI planner can be linked with existing TMS solutions and supports the optimal utilization of transport means by matching orders with trucks and drivers based on data. The AI planner engine plans proactively and also considers spot market data to ensure optimal fleet utilization.
- The Nexogen AI operator helps manage fleets more efficiently based on telematics and real-time data. In addition to an efficient route planning tool, it also provides real-time insights into transport execution. The AI operator uses raw data such as remaining driving time or fuel level to calculate routes considering tunnels, ferries, rest areas, and gas stations, and to predict accurate arrival times. The AI operator always takes applicable EU regulations into account.
Freight Forwarders Receive Spot Offers
Freight forwarders already working with Nexogen will be able to receive spot offers from Transporeon in the future, allowing them to take on additional loads. They can also find subcontractors through the Transporeon platform to transport excess loads for them.
Given up to 30% inefficiencies in European road transport, the driver shortage, and ever-increasing sustainability goals, freight forwarders and shippers need to work more efficiently by reducing both empty trips and unprofitable waiting times.
Stephan Sieber, CEO of Transporeon comments: “The integration of Nexogen into our transport management platform will help freight forwarders better utilize their logistics assets and manage complexity. This is particularly relevant in light of the EU mobility package. The package guarantees fair competition in the European internal market and protects drivers through clear rules. At the same time, it introduces new regulations that drivers must consider. To successfully work with the new framework conditions, intelligent solutions are needed. Nexogen’s AI-driven services help fleet operators take all necessary information and rules into account in transport planning.”
Intelligent and Automated Planning
“Our goal is to leverage data to unlock the potential of logistics through intelligent, automated planning and optimization. By integrating Nexogen’s resources into Transporeon’s extensive portfolio, we can drive digitalization and thus increase efficiency. At the same time, we reduce CO2 emissions with every freight transport. We are therefore excited to become part of the Transporeon ecosystem and the network with more than 130,000 freight forwarders,” emphasizes András Kovács, CEO of Nexogen.
