Frankfurt Records Highest Air Freight Volume in History
17. January 2022Eight companies are strengthening the general cargo network of Online Systemlogistics (OSL) at the beginning of the year: Werner Transport & Logistics and 17111 Logistics in the north, Spedition Vögele, Grieshaber Logistics (Weingarten) and Allgäu Freight Logistics in the south, Kurt Rothschild in Rhineland-Palatinate, as well as Rottbeck Spedition (Bottrop) and Wwe. Th. Hövelmann in North Rhine-Westphalia.
(Paderborn) “The optimization of the areas is currently the focus of our network expansion,” explains Petra Welling, Managing Director of Online Systemlogistics. “When changing partners or strengthening our general cargo network, we pay more attention than ever to ensuring that each system participant has the shortest possible routes in their region. This has always been the goal, but it has sometimes been difficult to implement operationally. For reasons of sustainability, we are now prioritizing differently. Short routes mean less energy consumption and lower CO2 emissions.”
The companies 17111 Logistics and Werner Transport & Logistics are strengthening the network in Schleswig-Holstein, jointly taking over the area of the previous service provider Sprint from Neumünster. Kurt Rothschild replaces the freight forwarder Gräfen in Rhineland-Palatinate. In the west of NRW, Hövelmann and Rottbeck, as new system partners, relieve the neighboring partners; Wwe. Th. Hövelmann had previously already been active as a service provider for OSL.
The former area of the exited system partner Fecht in southern Baden-Württemberg is being shared by the newly added companies Vögele and Grieshaber with the existing system partner Transco Süd. In southern Bavaria, the newly founded company Allgäu Freight Logistics takes the place of Fecht Allgäu. As part of its establishment, Allgäu Freight Logistics has taken over the former Fecht location in Weitnau, with Markus Hofer as the managing director.
Service Providers as a Precursor to Partnership
OSL distinguishes between system partners and service providers among the companies participating in the HUB traffic: Service providers operate procurement logistics for the system partners and distribute shipments in the target area, but do not feed into the network themselves. “The goal of OSL is to have no service providers in the system in the medium term,” says OSL authorized signatory Verena Käuper. “However, to gradually adjust structures and slowly build new system participants, 17111 Logistics, Grieshaber Logistics, and Werner Transport & Logistics initially started as service providers on January 1.”
Grieshaber and 17111 Logistics will become system partners on April 1, 2022, and Werner on January 1, 2023. The system partnership of Rottbeck Spedition starts on February 1, 2022. Vögele, Rothschild, Allgäu Freight Logistics, and Wwe. Th. Hövelmann have been system partners since January 1 of this year.
