20. January 2022Since September of last year, construction work has been underway, with operations set to begin in September 2022: The new logistics center of the local company group HEINLOTH – the logistic experts – is currently being built in Roth. With this project, the company is systematically expanding its contract logistics sector and clearly committing to its Franconian home location.
(Roth near Nuremberg) “The good connectivity of Middle Franconia to all of Germany and Southern Europe, the economic strength, and the prospective growth of the region with an interesting customer market were decisive for the location in Roth,” says Roland Heinloth, CEO of the company and responsible for strategic logistics and real estate development.
The new building is the largest logistics property of HEINLOTH and simultaneously represents the largest single investment in the company’s history. To make the best use of the available space, a 20-meter high narrow aisle warehouse has been chosen, generating over 16,000 pallet spaces. At full capacity, up to 50 jobs will be created here – also due to the specially designed picking and packing level. The use of state-of-the-art warehouse technology allows for a very high pallet turnover, especially for “fast-moving goods.” “An innovative warehouse management system for high customer requirements and the partial automation of the material handling equipment create sustainable and efficient processes that also make our employees’ work easier,” describes Frederik Pleick, responsible for contract logistics at HEINLOTH, the “latest state of the art.”
Through the new building, HEINLOTH is pushing the expansion of its market presence in the contract logistics sector, intensifying existing business relationships, and onboarding new customers. “The demand for logistics and storage with value-added services is unbroken. Our previous capacities are nearly exhausted,” explains Frederik Pleick the necessity of the new building, which also complies with the new regulations of the Water Resources Act for the storage of water-endangering goods due to its construction method.
Sustainable Construction and Photovoltaic System
A significant focus was also placed – as with the new logistics center in Rostock, which will begin operations at the beginning of the year – on sustainable construction. Among other things, the use of photovoltaic systems and intelligent building control contribute to reducing energy consumption and ensuring sustainable land use. Roland Heinloth adds: “With the high environmental protection standards, the bio-certification, and the prepared IFS certification, we are consistently continuing on our chosen path. This shows that the areas of logistics and sustainability can go hand in hand.”
