24. January 2022SOVEREIGN Speed is ready for the new ATLAS procedure IMPOST with the customs solution ZODIAK GE from DAKOSY, which the customs authorities launched on January 17 specifically for the customs processing of e-commerce shipments. The new procedure offers significant advantages to the transport service provider. A leading parcel service provider will be the first customer to benefit from the early transition.
Since July 2021, SOVEREIGN Speed has taken over the import customs clearance for all shipments from Great Britain for a parcel service provider, which are transported by truck from Great Britain to a central hub. As a manual traditional customs clearance of such large volumes is impossible, SOVEREIGN Speed has automated the process from the very beginning using the software ZODIAK GE from DAKOSY.
With IMPOST, SOVEREIGN Speed can further simplify and accelerate its processes. The biggest advantages include the reduction of the 11-digit commodity code to now six digits, which means that the classification of goods no longer has to be done in detail, as well as the possibility of submitting goods descriptions in the customs declaration in English instead of only in German as before. What sounds simple has significant benefits – the previously required translation of goods descriptions, which are usually provided in English from Great Britain, as well as the manual revision of the submitted commodity codes, are no longer necessary. Further improvements arise from early status information about premature customs releases and thus higher transparency throughout the entire process.
New solution available from day one
“Overall, we expect significant time and cost savings,” confirms Martin Araman, Managing Director of SOVEREIGN Speed, and adds: “With the help of DAKOSY, we can quickly and comfortably transition from ATLAS import to IMPOST and make the new solution available to our customers from day one. Many other large parcel service providers are only now starting to adapt and will not be able to benefit from the same advantages for several months.”
