DHL Improves Offering for Small-Format Goods Shipping
1. February 2022The software company DAKOSY has digitally connected the Cargo Community Platform FAIR@Link with the visitor registration system Click-2-drive in collaboration with Fraport AG. The result: From now on, the barriers to CargoCity South at gates 31 and 32 will automatically open for vehicles that have a confirmed slot for loading or unloading with the handling agents in FAIR@Link.
(Frankfurt/Hamburg) For freight forwarders and truck drivers participating in the slot booking procedure of FAIR@Link, the new interface offers significant time advantages. With the slot booking, all necessary data is already entered digitally, which is also required by the visitor registration system Click-2-drive. Fraport installed Click-2-drive at gates 31 and 32 last year. When a vehicle approaches the entrance barrier, the system scans the license plate and actively checks in FAIR@Link whether there is a corresponding slot booking for that license plate. If it is a legitimate visitor, the barrier opens, and the vehicle can pass without further verification. In case the license plate is not recognized or the driver is not in the vehicle specified in the slot booking, they can identify themselves with the QR code on the accompanying transport pre-registration (TPA) and are also allowed to pass.
Dirk Gladiator, authorized signatory and head of FAIR@Link at DAKOSY, sees a time gain for a large number of traffic flows that pass through gates 31 and 32 daily. He says: “More than 700 companies are already regularly booking slots with the major handling agents at the site via FAIR@Link. With the planned connection of the last major handling agent, FCS Frankfurt Cargo Services GmbH, to the slot booking procedure, we will be able to achieve nearly 100 percent of all delivery vehicles that can realize a time advantage and thus an efficiency gain through the networking of the two systems.”
Dynamic Traffic Control
For Max Philipp Conrady, head of site development Cargo at Fraport, the successful connection of infrastructure and processing process is a first milestone for a dynamically adaptive traffic control at Frankfurt Airport: “With the networking of the two systems, we achieve a faster and leaner processing process for all delivery traffic. We want to continue on this path consistently. In the next step, we want to integrate new and existing truck parking spaces in CargoCity South into the system. The goal is safe and smooth traffic for our customers.”
Real-Time Evaluations
“In FAIR@Link, we can evaluate in real-time whether the slots are being processed as planned. In case of delays, drivers could be digitally informed upon entry in the future and redirected to one of the Fraport truck parking spaces to bridge the waiting time,” Gladiator concludes.
