IAA Commercial Vehicles Debuts as IAA TRANSPORTATION
3. February 2022Sustainable Tendering provides more transparency in the bidding phase, allows companies to compare emissions from different modes of transport, and thus creates an additional competitive advantage. With its innovative Sustainability Management Platform (SMP), the startup WAVES has introduced the world’s first modular cloud platform for corporate sustainability management. Following the Sustainable Transport tool, the second module has now been launched: Sustainable Tendering.
(Luxembourg) More sustainability and an improvement in one’s CO₂ balance are among the good intentions of many companies. However, while climate protection and environmental awareness are already central components of a successful business model for some, sustainability management poses a significant challenge for others. With its Sustainability Management Consulting (SMC) service, WAVES aims to facilitate the entry into sustainability for all companies – from small to medium-sized to large.
Time is of the essence: Due to upcoming legislation, even smaller or medium-sized enterprises, which still have significant catching up to do in this area, must now urgently engage more deeply with aspects of sustainability. The new Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) of the EU will come into effect on January 1, 2024, and will be retroactively applicable for the reporting year 2023. Even if a company is not directly affected by the new directive, it may still be asked by its customers to generate transparency in the supply chain and provide sustainability evidence.
Furthermore, under the new EU taxonomy, economic activities will be assessed based on their ecological sustainability, and investment loans will be allocated accordingly. Companies now need a strong partner by their side to introduce them to the field of sustainability anew – or to support them intensively in implementing current regulations.
Individual Measures for CO₂ Reduction
WAVES’ industry-independent sustainability consulting is based on a standardized process to create comparability and transparency but is individually tailored to the needs and goals of a company. With its experienced consultants, WAVES develops the appropriate solution, which can range from initial steps towards their own sustainability reports, individual measures for CO₂ reduction or compensation options, to a comprehensive sustainability strategy. The WAVES team also offers support in evaluating Science-based Targets (SBT) and other sustainability programs.
Step by Step to a Climate-Neutral Company
In the first step, the goal is to determine the status quo, identify various sources of emissions, and create more transparency. Subsequently, sustainability goals and the necessary strategy are jointly established. From this, the individual action plan and measures can be derived in the next step. If desired, the consulting experts will prepare the results of the sustainability activities for corporate communication and provide text modules and visuals so that the commitment to sustainability and climate protection can be convincingly communicated both internally – in terms of employee motivation – and externally to shareholders, customers, and the public.
Consulting on Complex “Scope 3” Activities
When calculating a company’s CO₂ footprint, various aspects and emission sources play a role, which at WAVES are divided into so-called “Scopes” according to the valid parameters and guidelines of the Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHG Protocol). While calculations and consultations regarding “Scope 1” (direct greenhouse gas emissions) and “Scope 2” (indirect GHG emissions from energy) are also standard elsewhere, WAVES stands out with its extensive expertise in the complex area of “Scope 3” emissions. “Scope 3” includes all other emissions caused by business activities that are not under the control of the company. These are, for example, caused by suppliers, service providers, employees, or end consumers.
Own Sustainability Management Platform
Regardless of where they are in their climate transformation, companies can leverage the experience and expertise of WAVES. In addition to the competent professionals in-house, WAVES also offers a strong network of consultants. Additionally, there is a unique feature that distinguishes Sustainability Management Consulting (SMC) from the offerings of other consulting agencies: Using its own Sustainability Management Platform (SMP), WAVES provides reliable values based on real data and thus enables the continuous management of company-relevant sustainability indicators. Based on the data and insights gained, the decarbonization of the respective company can occur from an economic perspective. Companies have the option to additionally book the use of the SMP to access their data at any time and edit it if necessary. The WAVES consulting team prepares them to independently create sustainability reports in the future using the cloud platform SMP and to steer their company towards greater sustainability.
