Swissterminal Integrates Wolfurt into Its Network
7. February 2022EXOTEC, the developer and manufacturer of innovative robotic solutions, presents its innovative picking robot Skypicker for the first time at the LogiMAT logistics fair. Exotec is on an expansion course and conquering new markets: In cooperation with the intralogistics system integrator Klinkhammer, Exotec’s Skypod system will be used for the first time by the fashion company Bestseller in Denmark. In Switzerland, Digitec Galaxus relies on Exotec’s solutions.
(Lille/Landshut) Exotec presents its picking robot Skypicker for the first time in Germany at LogiMAT. Until the opening at the end of May, Exotec is accordingly focused on a completely new exhibition concept: For the first time, the robotics manufacturer will showcase the fully automated Skypicker in action at its booth A41 in Hall 5. In addition to this revolutionary picking arm, a small parts warehouse will also be visible in live operation. Furthermore, the leading provider of warehouse robots has completed a Series D financing round of 335 million US dollars. The company is currently valued at 2 billion dollars.
The Skypod System
Interested parties can track the efficiency of the Skypod system in real-time. They will experience the unique interplay of shelves, robots that move autonomously in three dimensions, and the Skypicker, which independently picks up to 600 items per hour. The arm can transport products with a maximum weight of 2 kilos, provided the pick area is at least 2x2cm.
The Skypicker is controlled by the Astar software (developed by Exotec). Astar synchronizes the articulated arm with the Skypods working in the warehouse and determines which container should be sent to the picking station. All of this is supported by a high-resolution camera and advanced visualization algorithms. The Skypicker is complemented by an Order Mover, which allows for processing four orders simultaneously and handing them over to the next station.
Partners and New Customers
For the German-speaking region, Denmark, and Eastern Europe, Klinkhammer is the Exotec system integrator. This means that Klinkhammer not only integrates various warehouse and conveyor systems with Skypod, such as automatic carton handling or goods receiving and shipping systems, but also the service and control technology remains in one hand.
Together, both partners are now implementing a Skypod system at Bestseller, an international fashion company with 17,000 employees based in Denmark. With the construction of a high-tech logistics center in Taulov featuring Exotec robots and automated carton and pallet handling, Bestseller is setting a standard in terms of speed, availability, and flexibility.
Another prominent customer has been acquired in Switzerland: Digitec Galaxus, the leading Swiss online retailer, plans to double the performance of its intralogistics with Exotec. This efficiency increase is made possible by a tailored logistics solution that can be integrated into existing systems.
End-to-End Solutions for Picking
Romain Moulin, Chairman and co-founder of Exotec, says: “We are proud to be the first manufacturer to fully integrate automatic picking into a goods-to-person system. Exotec has established itself as one of the most innovative players in the industry and offers end-to-end solutions for robotic-assisted picking in warehouses.”
