Swiss WorldCargo and Envirotainer Expand Their Partnership
9. February 2022IMAP has advised the shareholders of Horst Pöppel Logistik und Transport GmbH & Co. KG, Regensburg, one of the leading German mineral oil logistics companies, on the succession planning and the sale of a majority stake to funds of the investment company AUCTUS Capital Partners AG, Munich. The transaction is still subject to the fulfillment of certain closing conditions.
(Mannheim/Regensburg) The former majority shareholder, Ms. Monika Zollner, has re-invested in the company to accompany the upcoming transformation of the business in a changing market in the coming years. The transaction is still subject to the fulfillment of certain closing conditions, the occurrence of which is expected soon.
As a family business, Horst Pöppel, in addition to operating a number of traditional logistics businesses, is one of the leading German providers of tank and silo logistics, particularly mineral oil logistics, and has been closely collaborating with almost all leading mineral oil brands for decades. In addition to the transport of fuels, Horst Pöppel also transports various liquid, gas, dust, and powder products – including food, chemicals, and AdBlue. The company has its own modern fleet of more than 160 trucks and nearly 180 tank trailers. With over € 50 million in revenue and 15 locations mainly in Bavaria and Saxony, Horst Pöppel is a regional market leader and one of the largest mineral oil logistics companies in Germany. The traditional logistics business of the family-owned company remains unaffected by the transaction.
Consolidate the niche, but also broaden the scope
AUCTUS Capital Partners AG is an independent investment company founded by entrepreneurs with managed fund capital of over € 800 million. AUCTUS partner Dr. Nicolas Himmelmann comments on the entry into Horst Pöppel as follows: “The goal is to drive consolidation in the mineral oil niche with Pöppel, but above all, we want to be a reliable partner for our customers even in a changing market environment.” “With the transport of biofuels, e-fuels, hydrogen, and more silo and tank transport business, we want to make Horst Pöppel more independent from the mineral oil business in the future. In addition to the strategic restructuring, we primarily want to grow with Horst Pöppel,” says Timo Bräu, Investment Manager at AUCTUS.
The IMAP team consisting of Dr. Burkhard Weber, Philipp Noack, and Mathias Bosse has exclusively advised the shareholders of Horst Pöppel Logistik und Transport GmbH & Co. KG throughout all phases of a structured M&A process.
