DB Schenker Opens New Terminal in Southern Stockholm
21. February 2022Baltic Rail Gate, a subsidiary of the Lübeck Port Company (LHG), now offers three additional trains between Verona and Lübeck-Travemünde. The three additional connections are “Company Trains” commissioned by the Austrian logistics company LKW Walter. In total, Verona will be connected with 13 departures in both directions.
(Lübeck) The network of Baltic Rail Gate is being strengthened. Recently, three more trains of the intermodal operator Kombiverkehr have been operating between Verona (Northern Italy) and Lübeck-Travemünde at the Lübeck Scandinavia Quay. While the three existing round trips are open to all interested parties, the new connections are a so-called “Company Train” commissioned by the Austrian logistics company LKW Walter. This way, the company can save over 110 tons of CO2 per round trip.
The Northern Italian industrial center is thus connected to Lübeck with thirteen weekly departures in each direction. Throughout the month, Kombiverkehr will also offer new gateway connections via Verona to the Adriatic coast and Southern Italy.
More than 50 departures weekly
Currently, the Baltic Rail Gate terminal provides access to the German destinations Ludwigshafen, Duisburg, Herne, Hamburg, as well as Verona, Mlezo, and Novara in Northern Italy. The intermodal terminal has more than 50 departures weekly.
Baltic Rail Gate is a subsidiary of the Lübeck Port Company (LHG) and the Frankfurt Kombiverkehr KG. Through the intermodal terminal at Lübeck’s Scandinavia Quay, there are 53 direct connections to various destinations in Germany and Italy each week, transporting semi-trailers, containers, and swap bodies. In 2021, Baltic Rail Gate handled around 126,000 units.
