Express Service Provider Flash Expands Its Franchise Network
24. February 2022In 2018, Grieshaber Logistik GmbH started with new management. Four years later, it sharpens its leadership level with three newly tailored departments. This allows the company to continue its consistent growth path. Grieshaber aims to remain one of the leading logistics service providers in the Lake Constance-Upper Swabia region.
Based on 2018, the company increased its revenue by more than 25 percent and surpassed the 100 million euro mark last year. During the same period, the number of employees rose from 600 to 750. By the end of the year, an additional 100 jobs will be created. “We have achieved the goals set so far together and are leading the company in the spirit of my late husband Heinrich Grieshaber safely and stably into the future for the benefit of all employees,” says Gabriele Grieshaber, who heads the foundation established in 2014.
Restructuring of Business Areas
With the newly established business areas of logistics and supply chain management, as well as transport and forwarding, the medium-sized logistics company sharpens its competencies for further growth. Gregor Schnell, who has been with the company since 2008 and has been managing purchasing, technology, and real estate since 2018, will now be responsible for the logistics and supply chain management department, leveraging his experience in building logistics infrastructure and processes. Roland Futterer continues to oversee finance, personnel, and services as a long-standing managing director.
Managing Director Alexander Tesch has significantly advanced the expansion of contract logistics and the restructuring of the company as Chief Operating Officer. At his own request, he will transition to a new role outside the company later this year. The third managing director position for the transport and forwarding area will be newly filled starting in the third quarter. Until then, Roland Futterer will manage this area in a dual role.
Full Speed Ahead Towards the Future
For customer-specific contract logistics, the medium-sized logistics company has invested in the new construction and expansion of approximately 20,000 m² of logistics space in Cologne and Ravensburg, as well as in Krsko, Slovenia. “Logistics properties developed on behalf of customers and our own form the basis of our resource-efficient logistics service. With this investment, we are fully integrating into our customers’ supply chains,” explains Schnell regarding the company’s highly customer-specific approach.
The second business area, transport and forwarding, is well positioned with 30 newly acquired tractor units and a fleet of a total of 140 vehicles. With high fleet quality, Grieshaber ensures driver satisfaction, saves costs, and protects the environment. In the international forwarding business, a branch at Düsseldorf Airport, opened in March 2020, and a branch near the Hamburg port, opened in April 2022, shorten the routes to customers and partners. The general cargo logistics has expanded with several major shippers among the newly acquired customers. Grieshaber has been serving these alongside the existing VTL network as a member of Online System Logistics since the beginning of the year. Starting in the third quarter, a new general cargo hall will be put into operation at the Weingarten location for further growth.
Securely into the Future
Grieshaber aims to be the “top dog” in the Lake Constance-Upper Swabia region while also being nationally alongside its customers. Strategically, the company aligns its service portfolio for contract and transport logistics with the industries of its customers, from medium-sized businesses to global players. The next steps on the growth path include further investments at the logistics location in NRW and a new warehouse management system.
Hansjörg Zelger, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Grieshaber Logistik GmbH, comments: “The primary goal is to provide employees with secure jobs and perspectives for the future. Therefore, continuous process and personnel development takes precedence over all investments in buildings and systems. The strong commitment at all levels is what drives our success. Under the newly tailored leadership, the company can continue to grow at full speed in the spirit of Heinrich Grieshaber, who passed away in March 2020.”
