Garbe Acquires Logistics Property North of Hamburg
25. February 2022The tugboat “Bugsier 16” from the Hamburg-based Fairplay Towage Group has been strengthening Mukran Port since the middle of the month. The Fairplay Towage Group has stationed a Voith-Schneider Tractor tugboat in Mukran. This ensures readiness for maritime shipping around the clock in all weather conditions.
(Mukran/Hamburg) The 28-meter long and 9-meter wide vessel, with ice class and a bollard pull of up to 31.2 metric tons, is now permanently available to the port. This enables Mukran Port to support incoming and outgoing vessels as well as special vehicles in difficult weather conditions, even during sudden weather changes. Previously, tugs for special operations, such as during storms, were ordered from the Baltic Sea region.
“The permanent stationing of a tugboat in Mukran is our contribution as a customer-oriented service provider to support the massive local investments and to contribute to the competitive attractiveness of Mukran Port as well as Sassnitz for various ship calls,” says Philip Harmstorf, Managing Director of Fairplay Towage Group.
The stationing of a tugboat represents an increase in competitiveness for the port, as towing services can now be provided much more quickly and therefore also more cost-effectively.
Increase in Safety and Punctuality
“The new tugboat increases safety and punctuality when calling at Mukran Port, thereby enhancing the quality of the services we offer. In light of the continuous expansion of connections and traffic on the New Silk Road as well as in agricultural transport, this 24/7 offering strengthens our market position in the Baltic Sea region,” says Harm Sievers, Managing Director of Mukran Port.
