1. March 2022New Posting and Cabotage Regulations: The three transport associations from France (FNTR), the Nordic countries (NLA), and Germany (BGL) remind us that the Mobility Package will help combat social dumping, improve the working conditions of drivers in road freight transport, and create equal competitive conditions with fair market conditions.
Erik Østergaard, NLA Chairman: “The European Commission has made significant efforts to support the implementation of the Posting Directive for drivers. The directive is crucial in ensuring fair transport in Europe. It guarantees the remuneration of drivers according to the standards of the host country where the transport service is provided. Now it is up to the member states to implement this directive as quickly as possible and to monitor it efficiently.”
Florence Berthelot, General Delegate of the FNTR: “With the new legal framework for cabotage and the ‘cooling-off phase’, we have a tool in hand to stop unfair market practices by prohibiting the circumvention of cabotage regulations. We must vigorously enforce these provisions.”
More Enforcement Required
Prof. Dr. Dirk Engelhardt, BGL Board Spokesman: “We are already observing positive market reactions to the Mobility Package and noticing that companies are settling closer to the markets they serve. To make the new transport regulations a real success, much more enforcement is required, including regarding the return of the driver and the truck.”
