BigMile collaborates with the Lean & Green initiative in Austria
17. March 2022The logistics service provider RheinCargo and the plastics and chemicals company Lyondellbasell have agreed on a long-term collaboration at the Münchsmünster site in Bavaria. RheinCargo was able to win the tender for the takeover of the local factory railway. This further expands the RheinCargo sector “Factory and Industrial Railways.”
(Münchsmünster /Neuss) Since the beginning of 2022, RheinCargo has been handling shunting operations with two locomotives seven days a week on the approximately ten-kilometer track network around the plant for the production of high-density polyethylene. “The initial challenge was to recruit the necessary personnel at short notice. We have succeeded well, so that we can deliver all logistical services in the quality we are accustomed to,” explains RC division manager Peter Jacobs, who has also taken on the position of railway operations manager on site.
Collaboration with Global Corporation Shows Appreciation
“The renewed collaboration with a global corporation shows how valued RheinCargo’s products are. We are optimistic that we can develop further projects in the region,” says Wolfgang Birlin, managing director responsible for the railway sector at RheinCargo.
