22. March 2022The Raben Group is also further developing its German general cargo network in 2022: The European logistics service provider has been building a new branch in Herborn, Hesse, since early March. The new location has a total area of 28,360 square meters, of which 5,600 square meters are designated for the transshipment area and cross docks.
(Mannheim/Herborn) The new logistics center in Herborn replaces the previous location in nearby Haiger and allows Raben to handle goods more efficiently. The owner-managed company will take over all 60 employees from the old branch. The new location will be ready for occupancy in January 2023 and will enable the Raben Group to achieve more efficient distribution and procurement logistics.
In the old building in Haiger, the logistics service provider was only a tenant. “The new transshipment areas and the generously designed logistics warehouse, combined with the proximity to the A 45, provide a long-term and strategic advantage for our entire European distribution network and, above all, of course, for our customers,” says branch manager Sven Decker. The new location is part of Raben’s own general cargo network. Goods are temporarily stored, scheduled, and prepared for onward transport in the transshipment hall. The new building also includes a 920 square meter administrative building. The general contractor for the new construction is Goldbeck GmbH.
Solar-powered heat pump heats new branch
In the new branch, Raben heats the transshipment hall and the 920 square meter administrative building with a heat pump powered by solar energy. Maximum resource and environmental protection, as well as the maximum use of renewable energies, are integral parts of Raben’s corporate philosophy. Thus, the new logistics center in Herborn meets the current energy standard. The sustainability goals are defined in the strategy “Eco2Way 2025.” With this, Raben aims to achieve a gradual reduction of the CO2 footprint in all business areas within five years.
