Grieshaber and Evonik Celebrate 20 Years of Collaboration
31. March 2022The indiwa digitale kommunikation GmbH is developing a software module for the container terminal in Halle (Saale). This complements the software Contado, a transport management software for container trucking and depot management. Thanks to the new Contado module, reachstacker drivers are now also connected to the software.
(Bremen/Halle) The trains with the containers come directly from the seaport of Hamburg to be unloaded at the inland terminal in Halle an der Saale. “There, the manual checkup began: Where is which container on the train, are all documents for the container number complete? This was personally coordinated with the terminal management and then with the drivers of the large reachstackers, while the clock was ticking. For several months now, these processes have been automated,” explains Ingo Litek. He is the managing director of indiwa digitale kommunikation GmbH based in Bremen. For 20 years, the company has specialized in software solutions for the logistics industry. “Our top product is Contado, a transport management software for container trucking and depot management. We have supplemented this for the Container Terminal Halle (Saale) GmbH with a module.”
Processes at the Terminal are Accelerated
CTHS managing director Andreas Haschke reports on the transition to the digital process: “We are a modern operation. Our management knows with one click which containers are arriving or departing from the depot and which trucks are loading or unloading with us. Now, thanks to the new Contado module, our reachstacker drivers are also connected to the software. They know down to the minute which containers are being delivered or picked up, what is to happen with the container, and where it is stored. This significantly accelerates the processes at our terminal. We are working much more economically thanks to the more efficient handling.”
Understanding Processes Before Digitalization
Indiwa continuously develops new software modules for Contado in close collaboration with companies and examines the processes on-site. “It is our concern, as an IT service provider, to intelligently network the many interfaces in transport to make all the necessary data and documents in logistics digitally available.” Another example of this is a self-service tool. For another terminal customer, indiwa’s programmers already created the option in 2020 for truck drivers to register via a self-service terminal and thus self-process without additional staffing needs.
At the terminal in Halle, there was quickly a great acceptance for the new digital solution after initial skepticism. Soon after, ideas for further processes came from the staff. Currently, indiwa and CTHS are working together to make the inland terminal even more future-proof.
