VTG Awarded the ‘German Mobility Transition Prize’
7. April 2022The piece goods cooperation Online System Logistics (OSL) will put a West HUB into operation in Bottrop this summer. The location is the facility of the system partner Rottbeck. The goods handling is scheduled to start by August 1st at the latest, with 52 gates and 6,000 m2 of logistics space available. The West HUB is primarily intended to relieve the central HUB in Schlitz.
(Paderborn) Eight new partners joined at the beginning of 2022, and the central goods handling in Schlitz, with 221 gates and 15,500 square meters of space, is reaching its capacity limits during peak times. “With the West HUB, we are addressing both the growth from new partners and the high shipment volume in the Rhine-Ruhr metropolitan region,” says authorized signatory Mike Wüllner. “We will also connect our depots in the Netherlands and Belgium. Strategically, we are planning daily departures to the HUB of our French partner cooperation Astre Palet System south of Paris.”
Online System Logistics already operates four transshipment points: two logistics facilities at the central HUB in Schlitz near Fulda, the North HUB in Porta Westfalica with partner Meyer-Jumbo, and the South HUB in Nördlingen with partner Döderlein.
Ecological and Economic
More than 30 of the total 89 logistics companies in the OSL piece goods network directly benefit from the expansion: “For system partners from the region,” summarizes Petra Welling the advantages, “the new HUB offers the opportunity to save kilometers with the transshipment in Bottrop and to optimize the main transport load ecologically and economically.”
In addition, partners can utilize the loading and unloading service in Bottrop. The Rottbeck forwarding company has good technical conditions and an experienced logistics team for efficient goods handling.
