12. April 2022The business unit “Full Load Solutions” (FLS) is being transferred from DB Schenker to DB Cargo. This strengthens DB Cargo’s position as a specialist in European rail logistics, while DB Schenker invests in the growth markets and economies of the world. The business of TRANSA Spedition is also moving to DB Cargo.
(Essen/Mainz) Dr. Sigrid Nikutta, Member of the Management Board for Freight Transport at Deutsche Bahn AG and Chairwoman of DB Cargo AG: “We are becoming the rail logistics provider with rail at our heart! Thanks to the high expertise of our colleagues from FLS, we can offer tailored logistics and service solutions for all customers. This provides real added value in their climate-friendly supply chain. At the same time, they will continue to have their long-standing contacts. I am pleased about this next step in our growth strategy ‘Strong Cargo’.”
FLS has been consolidating large-volume full-load transports in the European land transport network of DB Schenker since 2019. The services include secure and flexible door-to-door transport by land, rail, or sea. Additional services include unpacking and repacking, cross-docking, warehousing, container loading, as well as control tower and visibility services. With the acquisition of FLS activities, DB Cargo gains access to customers from the consumer goods industry and other sectors, as well as extensive know-how in multimodal door-to-door solutions. Christian Drenthen, Member of the Management Board for Land Transport at DB Schenker: “I am very proud of the successful transformation we have achieved with FLS. FLS is now excellently positioned to continue growing within the European network of DB Cargo. We look forward to further strengthening and expanding our expertise in land transport – both in Europe and worldwide.”
Strengthening DB Cargo’s Market Position
The acquisition also includes the business of Offenbach-based TRANSA Spedition GmbH, which specializes in combined transport (KV). The aim of the transfer within the DB Group is to further strengthen the offering of rail and intermodal transport for customers of DB Cargo and TRANSA. TRANSA holds a leading position in Germany and Europe in the areas of FLS as well as in the development of multimodal transport chains. With the acquisition of the FLS business and the Multi-Modal Solutions units from DB Schenker under the new umbrella brand DB Cargo Transa, DB Cargo is further expanding its position as a European specialist in rail logistics. Through the transfer of the FLS business within the DB Group, including the organizational and production units, customers can also benefit from the top-notch offerings in the FLS business under the new name. All FLS services will henceforth be offered by DB Cargo and DB Schenker in close partnership.
