22. April 2022On Sunday, April 24, 2022, the RoRo ship chartered by Hansa Destinations, Eliana Marino, will dock for the first time at the overseas port of Rostock. Since the launch last autumn, Hansa Destinations has seen a continuously increasing demand from freight forwarders and logistics companies wishing to transport goods by sea between Nynäshamn in Sweden and Rostock in Germany.
(Rostock/Nynäshamn) The RoRo ship Eliana Marino will operate the Nynäshamn – Rostock route starting April 25, 2022, alongside the ferry Drotten. The new ship has 2,500 loading meters and a number of driver cabins. This means that Hansa Destinations is doubling its capacity from three to up to six departures per week in both directions.
The route offers freight operators a very interesting logistical transport alternative. Thanks to increased capacity and additional departures, customers now have greater flexibility in their transport planning. Further rail solutions for hinterland traffic are also being worked on intensively to complete the offering and strengthen Stockholm and Rostock as Baltic Sea hubs.
Significantly increasing freight volumes
“Since the new Rostock-Nynäshamn/Visby route has proven to be very interesting for the passenger market since its opening, ROSTOCK PORT is pleased to also note the significantly increasing freight volumes, particularly since the end of 2021, which additionally benefit the location. With the now confirmed increase in departure frequency, entirely new freight products will automatically become possible. ROSTOCK PORT hopes that this increase in frequency and capacity will provide additional impulses for the hub function of the Rostock location and thanks Hansa Destinations for their trust in the logistical attractiveness of the site,” said ROSTOCK PORT Managing Director Dr. Gernot Tesch.
