25. April 2022On Logistics Day, April 21, Oliver Luksic, Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Minister for Digital and Transport and Coordinator of the Federal Government for Freight Transport and Logistics, was invited to a discussion round with apprentices at Hellmann Worldwide Logistics in the new logistics facility in Völklingen, Saarland.
(Osnabrück/Völklingen) In the new logistics facility in Völklingen, the apprentices provided a behind-the-scenes look and showcased what logistics has to offer for young employees – from international assignments to interdisciplinary project work. The focus of the discussion was on how the logistics location Germany must evolve, particularly regarding sustainability and digitalization, to remain future-proof and attractive for employees in the long term. Luksic advocated for taking up one of the diverse training professions in logistics.
“As an export nation in the heart of Europe, strong logistics is extremely important for our country. To remain the world champion in logistics in the future, Germany needs well-trained specialists. These key players of tomorrow are the foundation for supply security and value creation,” said Oliver Luksic, Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Minister for Digital and Transport and Coordinator of the Federal Government for Freight Transport and Logistics.
Logistics is the third largest economic sector in Germany
“The logistics industry, with more than three million employees, is the third largest economic sector in Germany and not only secures the supply of society and the economy but also offers a very diverse – and sometimes underestimated in its significance and variety – working environment. Therefore, I am very pleased that our apprentices were able to show in their exchange with Mr. Luksic how varied, international, and future-oriented our industry is,” said Sven Eisfeld, Managing Director of Hellmann in Germany.
