Cuxhaven Port Can Alleviate Bottlenecks in the Energy Transition
28. April 2022Successful Year 2021: Cargo Trans Logistik AG (CTL) draws a positive conclusion for the past year. The groupage cooperation increased its national shipment volume by 14 percent and its revenue by 18 percent to 135 million euros. A total of around 2.5 million shipments were transported.
(Homburg/Efze) With the launch of the new East Hub in Leipzig and the introduction of new transport services such as direct delivery to end customers, the traffic of existing partners has been significantly expanded. For the current financial year, the cooperation from Homberg (Efze) is increasingly focusing on the further development of network quality and IT structure.
“2021 was an exciting year for us, and we are very satisfied with it. The positive development of shipment volumes shows us that our unique hub-and-spoke system in Germany is exactly the right response to the volatile groupage market. We will continue on this path consistently,” says CTL board member Francesco De Lauso. The development of the network is promising, as despite a challenging 2021 with numerous company takeovers and market changes, the number of partners has been maintained.
Initiated Changes
CTL has initiated changes on its part to become even more attractive for partners and their customers. Through multi-hub traffic, where the central hub in Homberg no longer needs to be accessed, the groupage cooperation has introduced a new production option into the network. With daily fixed line services between the regional hubs Aurach, Düsseldorf, Grolsheim, and Lauenau, partners can respond much more flexibly to high transport volumes. More than half of the traffic is now handled through the decentralized hubs. To achieve maximum national coverage, an additional transshipment point has been opened in Leipzig.
With the introduction of the two new products “CTL Home” and “CTL Handel,” the cooperation has also created a broader offering for its partners than before. “The increasing demand for deliveries to end customers and the connection to retail warehouses made it necessary for us to include these two products in our portfolio,” says De Lauso. This decision has also contributed significantly to the positive development of shipment volumes. The share of B2C deliveries alone was ten percent in 2021.
Quality Offensive in the Network
CTL aims to continue its positive development. With the opening of its own West Hub in Düsseldorf to better serve the Cologne-Bonn metropolitan region and the expansion of traffic to France, the cooperation has taken the next steps in its development. “The coming months will be fully focused on the quality offensive in the network. We have identified optimization potentials and are gradually implementing them,” announces De Lauso. Strategic partnerships and new partners are intended to strengthen the CTL network. With the expansion of the IT structure and a focus on sustainability projects such as emission measurement at the shipment level, the cooperation is also better preparing itself for the future.
