Spotlight on Logistics in Various European Countries

Logistics has much more to offer than commonly thought. This was impressively demonstrated at the Swiss Logistics Day, the LOGISTICS DAYS at the Swiss Transport Museum in Lucerne, and the Logistics Day 2022, with over 150 events held across ten countries in Europe. Here’s a brief recap of the action days, where visitors could participate either in person or virtually.

(Dietikon/Lucerne) Logistics in the spotlight: During the action days Swiss Logistics Day and “Logistics Day at the Transport Museum” in Switzerland, as well as the “Logistics Day” and “Supply Chain Day” abroad. And the statistics afterwards are impressive. With over 150 events in Switzerland, Germany, Lithuania, Greece, Slovenia, Spain, Hungary, Ukraine, and Turkey – initiated by over 130 companies, organizations, and institutions – there was something for everyone, from interested individuals and logistics professionals to the general public and even tech enthusiasts. And for those who perhaps didn’t have the time or opportunity to attend an event in person, there were insights beyond the day itself, with a reach of over 700,000 impressions on LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.

Logistics Attractions Across Switzerland

In Switzerland, Competec Logistics/Brack in Willisau and Dachser Logistics in Lyss opened their logistics center doors, and the Port Museum in Basel offered free admission. The organizations ASFL SVBL, GS1 Switzerland, the Customs School, and the University of Applied Sciences Graubünden presented their current educational offerings online. The Ladies in Logistics Switzerland provided interesting virtual insights into their network. Additional company presentations and the video competition “Logistics is where I am!” rounded off the diverse and successful logistics day.

The “Logistics Days” at the Transport Museum as a Highlight

One of the highlights took place from April 21st and the following three days until Sunday, April 24th, with the Logistics Days at the Transport Museum of Switzerland in Lucerne. The interest exceeded all expectations: Over 11,000 visitors to the Transport Museum were able to take advantage of the unique opportunity to drive a truck around the traffic hall or operate forklifts on skill courses during these four days. The use of modern warehouse robots, mobile lifts, and cranes, as well as regular fire extinguishing shows, attracted many visitors. Lastly, the permanent exhibition “Experience Logistics!” and all other Transport Museum attractions fascinated attendees. Alongside ASTAG and ASFL SVBL, exhibition partners Galliker, Schmalz, Bito, K.A. Blöchliger, and Dreier Transport were actively involved.

Emotions, Not Just Numbers

However, the Swiss Logistics Days are not just about high visitor numbers. It’s about glimpses behind the scenes, about emotions, and about the occasional “Wow! I wouldn’t have thought that about logistics.” And the events are just the tip of the iceberg. Because as important as such action days are for our reputation and understanding of our significant economic contribution: Out there, hundreds of thousands of employees give their all every day to ensure our supply works, that the store shelves are full, and that all packages arrive.

Enthusiasm for logistics starts early. When it comes to the driver shortage, you can’t start too early.
