4. May 2022With the symbolic first groundbreaking, the Raben Group has begun construction of a new contract logistics location. The European logistics service provider will move into a new building with a total area of more than 31 hectares in Ragow, Brandenburg, directly at the Schönefelder Kreuz in autumn 2022. The new branch also offers a handling capacity of 10,000 square meters and replaces the previous one in Mittenwalde.
(Mannheim/Ragow) With the 18,000 square meter warehouse, the logistics service provider Raben benefits from the strategically advantageous location directly at the A 113 and A 10. Raben has already made a name for itself at the Leipzig location with automotive and e-commerce logistics and now guarantees short Europe-wide and regional transit times south of Berlin. “We are responding to the increasing demand from our customers for more storage capacity and the need for an additional value-added service with the new location,” says Deputy Branch Manager Thomas Struetzel.
The new building is part of the Exeter Logistics Park Berlin South, where several large e-commerce and automotive service providers have settled. In addition to the handling and storage hall, a smaller office and administrative building is also part of the logistics center. All 55 employees from Mittenwalde will move to Ragow. Approximately 15 new jobs will be created. The logistics center is certified according to DGNB standards.
Contract logistics customers benefit from high Raben standards
In the warehouse, which also features a 1,500 square meter mezzanine area, Raben receives, stores, manages, and picks the goods of its contract logistics customers. They particularly benefit from the high Raben standards in terms of quality and process reliability in the automotive industry, keyword VDA standards. “In Ragow, we can meet our customers’ needs for the highest precision, just-in-time deliveries, and various quality assurance standards with a larger service portfolio. Due to the direct connection to our European network, we offer them a significant competitive advantage,” says Struetzel. A total of 75 loading bridges and three additional ones for jumbo trucks ensure efficient handling of goods.
Just-in-time deliveries for automotive and e-commerce service providers
The generously designed logistics warehouse has more than 28,000 pallet spaces. The delivered goods undergo quality control, are temporarily stored, picked, and prepared for transport. “This allows us to guarantee that only the goods in the correct quantity and always at the right time are delivered,” explains Struetzel. This not only benefits the customers. Raben is also able to reduce the number of necessary vehicles in this way.
