EU Security System ICS2 Ensures Higher Customer Protection
16. May 2022The fleet of the logistics group Am Zehnhoff-Söns from Bonn is being modernized. The family-owned company has received 54 Volvo FH with I-Save. The decisive factors for the acquisition were the consumption of diesel, AdBlue, and a high level of safety and comfort for the drivers.
(Bonn) The main criterion for choosing Volvo trucks was primarily the significant fuel savings compared to the competition. For authorized signatory Andreas Am Zehnhoff-Söns, the state-of-the-art fleet is another important milestone in the company’s history. “The environmentally friendly tractors of the Volvo FH 500 type are equipped with low-emission drives. Especially the ‘I-Save’ variant leads to a significant reduction in fuel consumption and fits perfectly into our sustainability concept – AZS Green Logistics.”
“Fuel-efficient, CO2-efficient, yet powerful,” summarizes Sven Hönnige, Regional Sales Director at Volvo Group Trucks Germany, the advantages of the trucks.
Diverse New Advantages
50 vehicles were ordered immediately, with four more ordered later. These will be deployed at the company’s location in Trier. The new vehicles score not only with their low fuel consumption but also with AdBlue technology. The AdBlue consumption is just four percent, compared to eight to ten percent for many other trucks. All delivered vehicles have an engine with a turbo compound charger, 2856 Newton meters of torque, and around 510 hp.
The logistics group and Volvo Group Trucks Germany have maintained a close business relationship for years. “The customer knows us and is aware of what we are capable of,” says Sven Hönnige. “Selling 54 vehicles at once is, of course, something special for us,” he adds with pleasure.
Generous Interior Features
“The Globetrotter XL safety cab of the Volvo FH also offers plenty of space. The interior is very comfortable and designed with blue and dark blue fabric seats for a cozy atmosphere,” describes Wolfram Rundau, sales consultant for new vehicles at Volvo Group Trucks, the interior. The driver’s cab is equipped with a parking heater and a parking air conditioning system, ensuring optimal temperature regulation. With dimmable interior lighting and red night lighting, it becomes really cozy. Additionally, drivers have access to a cooler with a freezer compartment under the bunk.
Additional Tech Features
Other features of the new trucks include I-See technology with map-based topographical information that is high-resolution. The vehicles are equipped with a driver airbag in the steering wheel, adaptive cruise control (ACC) with collision warning and emergency braking function. They also have an additional close-range camera on the passenger side for blind spot monitoring, as well as an electronic locking check for trailers.
The trucks also leave a lasting impression from the outside: The Dura-Bright EVO alloy wheels, LED main headlights, and a gray/blue-green paint make the trucks a real eye-catcher.
Baki Saliu has been employed at the company on the Rhine as a driver and mentor for new drivers for many years. “This is the best, most beautiful, most powerful, and smoothest truck I have driven in 45 years.”
