Economic Makers Showcase Intralogistics Job Opportunities at LogiMAT
19. May 2022The HEINLOTH corporate group – the logistic experts looks back with satisfaction on the past Mother’s Day: In the run-up to May 8, the Rother company took over the entire logistics and picking of more than 8,000 flower bouquets for its client BLUME2000, a leading flower retailer in both brick-and-mortar and online sales in Germany – the entire order was processed in three shipping days.
(Roth near Nuremberg/Norderstedt) “Naturally, the flowers are only ordered in the few days before Mother’s Day – and of course, the goods must arrive on time at the recipient,” explains Frederik Pleick, the responsible head of contract logistics at HEINLOTH, regarding the specifics of this order.
One is dealing with an enormous order peak that can only be managed with thorough preparation, qualified staff, and the corresponding know-how and experience. “There is, of course, no time buffer for a Mother’s Day gift. At the same time, the order cannot be spread out or processed earlier due to the sensitive goods,” says Pleick.
Special Challenge
Setting up packing stations, providing conveyor belts, instructing and training the staff, coordinating the incoming goods of consumables and flower bouquets – numerous tasks defined the internal workflows in the days leading up to the order processing. The “challenging action,” as Arakel Eichhorn, the responsible operations manager at HEINLOTH, calls it, could, however, be successfully carried out: “A well-thought-out plan is the be-all and end-all for such an order that starts from 0 to 100,” says Eichhorn.
Extensive Preparations – Satisfied Customer
The customer BLUME2000 is also satisfied: “The challenge is already to find a service provider who can and, above all, wants to handle such extreme sales peaks,” explains Boje Ottenlinger, head of production at BLUME2000. However, they were convinced of HEINLOTH’s expertise from the very beginning. Ottenlinger adds: “The preparations were perfect, the processing smooth. The team really put in their all, and everything worked out precisely – an outstanding performance throughout.” Therefore, they have also committed to HEINLOTH as a service provider for the coming year well in advance. “We are happy to take on this challenge again,” confirms Frederik Pleick for the Middle Franconian logistics expert.
