LIP Invest Acquires Logistics Property Near Hanover
31. May 2022The international technology group Körber has entered into a strategic partnership with the Canadian robotics company Attabotics. Körber will equip European companies with Attabotics’ automated 3D rack handling technology, which enables efficient order picking, including sequencing and buffering, in an extremely compact storage area. The technology has already been successfully implemented at numerous companies in the e-commerce sector in the USA and Canada.
(Hamburg) The Körber business unit Supply Chain Automation is not only a technological pioneer itself but is also always on the lookout for innovative partners. One such partner has been found in the company Attabotics, founded in 2016. In the future, they aim to support European e-commerce companies in overcoming the challenges of order fulfillment even more efficiently. Körber will act as a reseller, integrator, and implementation partner for the Attabotics solution in Europe.
The Attabotics solution is based on a vertical, space-saving grid structure. Products are stored in square containers (571 x 571 mm internally). Robots can move on the grid, beneath the grid, and vertically through the downward shafts to store or retrieve containers and transport them to the integrated picking openings. This flexibility greatly increases the speed of processes in the warehouse.
Efficient Fulfillment Solutions
Customers with fulfillment services are facing increasingly greater challenges. Their business is growing rapidly, the demands of end customers are becoming more complex, and there is a significant labor shortage in the market. Attabotics’ solution addresses these challenges. It offers top-notch storage density while providing direct access to every product. It enables high picking speeds, features integrated sequencing functions, and can handle short response times.
“I had this crazy idea to reconfigure storage spaces after watching a documentary about leafcutter ants, where you could see how they reach their colonies vertically. A 3D system as a warehouse just made sense,” explains Scott Gravelle, CEO and founder of Attabotics, adding: “We are very excited about this partnership. Körber’s strong expertise and presence in Europe complement Attabotics very well and provide customers with a trusted partner for their business.”
Michiel Veenman, Vice President Körber Fulfillment Solutions in the Körber business unit Supply Chain Automation, adds: “Flexibility, responsiveness, and performance are essential for today’s fulfillment operations. We believe that Attabotics’ solution offers a particularly strong combination of features that have not been available in the European market before. With Attabotics technology, Körber can now enable our customers to take the next step towards automation.”
The robotic system will be presented by the Körber business unit Supply Chain Automation at the LogiMAT logistics fair from May 31 to June 2 at booth C34 in Hall 1.
