Volvo Trucks Introduces New Features for Enhanced Safety
9. June 2022Alps Alpine, together with Heliot Europe and UnaBiz, has put the millionth tracker into operation over the Sigfox Internet-of-Things network. This milestone marks the launch of the largest deployment of Long-Power-Wide-Area-Asset-Trackers (LPWAN) in Europe to date. Well-known companies such as Deutsche Post DHL are already using the tracker from Alps Alpine.
(Munich) Together with the Sigfox 0G network providers Heliot Europe and UnaBiz, Alps Alpine Europe, one of the world’s largest developers and manufacturers of electromechanical devices, celebrates the commissioning of the millionth Lykaner® Long-Life Asset Tracker.
The millionth commissioning marks the launch of the largest deployment of Long-Power-Wide-Area-Asset-Trackers (LPWAN) in Europe, involving major companies such as Deutsche Post DHL, Österreichische Post, as well as various automotive manufacturers and mobility providers in France, Germany, the Netherlands, and many other European countries.
Organizing Processes & Realizing Visibility
Lars Landewee, Senior Vice President of Operations for the parcel sorting centers at Deutsche Post DHL, is convinced of the solution: “The Alps Alpine tracking solutions help us organize our internal processes and realize visibility for our assets. Based on the great results of recent years in the field of Internet-of-Things (IoT) tracking, we can highly recommend Alps Alpine’s durable trackers.”
Since the successful deployment of the Lykaner® Asset Tracker began, the Alps Alpine team has been working on research and development to further optimize the portfolio of fifteen tracker variants with a battery life of up to twelve years. Today, Alps Alpine reaffirms its intention to reach the next milestone and produce an additional 2.6 million trackers based on materials acquired a year ago to continue deliveries despite the current component shortages.
Opportunity for Change
“The COVID-19 pandemic has caused unprecedented stress in the logistics and supply chain industry, but it has also created opportunities for change. As the demand for asset tracking continues to rise, we are ready to support our customers with market-leading asset tracking solutions to create more transparency in daily operations and increase the untapped financial potential in every process,” says Sascha Kunzmann, Head of the Engineering Division at Alps Alpine Europe. “In times of crisis, companies are called upon to optimize their operations to achieve higher productivity and a greater degree of process automation.”
Open and Collaborative Ecosystem
“It is an honor for us to be part of this impressive milestone and the success story that demonstrates the capabilities of Sigfox 0G technology in tracking objects. As a provider of customized IoT solutions, we have experienced the challenges of large-scale deployment firsthand,” comments Henri Bong, co-founder and co-CEO of UnaBiz. “To successfully support our end customers, we will continue to work closely with all Sigfox 0G network operators and solution providers to accelerate their market launch. We believe that an open and collaborative ecosystem is key to realizing a strong Internet of Things.” In April, UnaBiz acquired Sigfox, the inventor of the global Sigfox 0G radio network, following a bankruptcy protection application.
“Logistics is a competition of speed, cost, and precision. The industrial Alps tracker performs its silent work millions of times every day, enabling our customers to deliver quickly, accurately, and cost-effectively. Together with the Alps Alpine asset tracking solution, the 0G technology, and our comprehensive service coverage, reliable, seamless asset tracking for logistics in Europe is a reality,” adds Thomas Scheibel, CEO of Heliot Europe.
