DHL Freight Opens New Freight Terminal in the Rhine-Main Area
12. June 2022The Quantron AG, specialist in battery and hydrogen-powered commercial vehicles, was an exhibitor at IFAT 2022 in Munich. IFAT is the largest platform for water, wastewater, waste, and raw materials management with around 120,000 visitors and 3,000 exhibitors from 155 countries. During the four days of the fair, Quantron AG recorded various orders for emission-free new vehicles as well as several inquiries for retrofitting existing diesel commercial vehicles to electric drive, especially from municipal companies.
(Munich) The demand from companies focused on fully electric vehicles from the heavy sector, such as waste collection vehicles like the QUANTRON QHB 27-280, as well as light and medium-duty vans, both with hydrogen fuel cell technology, realized with the exhibited QUANTRON QLI FCEV, and battery electric, with the QUANTRON QARGO 4 EV.
“It is clearly felt that especially municipal companies are under pressure to act and now want to convert their fleets to emission-free vehicles,” said Reiner Dellori, Chief Product Advisor of Quantron AG. “The problem for many companies is the implementation of the EU Clean Vehicles Directive on one hand, rising operating costs of diesel-powered vehicles, and the inability of established manufacturers to deliver on the other. QUANTRON, on the other hand, is able to deliver corresponding vehicles within a few months.”
Demand in Last-Mile & Waste Collection
Thus, QUANTRON was able to sell additional battery-electric light transporters of the type QUANTRON QARGO 4 EV at the fair. The vehicle was launched at the end of April 2022 and is ideal for sustainable transport operations in urban areas and on the last mile. There is particularly high interest in fully electric waste vehicles among municipal companies. With the QUANTRON QHB 27-280 based on the Mercedes-Benz Econic, QUANTRON manufactures a vehicle that is particularly pleasant for residents and employees due to its emission-free and quiet operation. With its battery capacity of 280 kWh, the waste vehicle effortlessly handles a complete shift and can be easily charged overnight for everyday use.
Fuel Cell Technology
Furthermore, QUANTRON was also able to excite customers for hydrogen-powered vehicles. The light transporter QUANTRON QLI FCEV based on the Iveco Daily was developed in collaboration with QUANTRON’s partner and fuel cell expert AE Driven Solutions. The great interest of the fair visitors in the hydrogen fuel cell vehicle shows that municipal companies are open to the innovative energy carrier.
Together with its partner Ballard Power Systems, QUANTRON is working on the development of hydrogen vehicles in the heavy sector. The first vehicle of the joint Hydrogen Offensive will be presented at the IAA Transportation in September 2022.
