The evening was organized by the premium partner Transporeon.
(St. Gallen/Stuttgart) In a dignified closing ceremony at the Mövenpick Hotel Stuttgart Airport, the winners and finalists of the Eco Performance Award 2022 were personally honored and recognized.
Jury President Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Stölzle, Director of the Institute for Supply Chain Management at the University of St. Gallen, expressed his joy in his speech that it was the first time since 2019 that they could meet in person for the award presentation. The ceremony still took place in a small setting due to the uncertain preparation period, but this did not detract from the good mood among the participants. There is optimism for 2023 that they can return to the usual scale of the event.
Winning Companies in Celebration Mood
Among the large companies, Österreichische Post prevailed. They impressed with a high implementation rate on the path to climate neutrality. It was particularly noted that they have already fully implemented climate-neutral delivery of letters and packages in Graz, Austria’s second-largest city. Matthias Hofmann Execute (Vice President Strategic Planning & Management) and Paul Janacek (Head of Corporate Fleet) received the trophy and certificates for the title on behalf of Österreichische Post.
Trailer Dynamics GmbH, the winner among start-ups, represented by co-founders and managing directors Michael Nimtsch and Abdullah Jaber, has rethought the truck trailer and is on a good path to implement the innovation of adding an electric drive axle to the trailer, which relieves the tractor unit, into a business model. They plan to return with a full order book at the IAA Transportation (September 20-25, 2022) in Hanover, as Nimtsch expressed in his acceptance speech.
The narrowly defeated finalist among start-ups, CO2OPT GmbH, represented by co-founder and COO Benjamin Bartsch, focuses on optimizing costs and reducing emissions from large commercial vehicles through tire optimization.
Ultimately, the “Transformer of the Year” award went to xpack green logistics GmbH & Co. KG for their innovative approach to reusable packaging. Xpack not only focuses on the packaging itself but also provides comprehensive advice to customers, including returns. Lothar Preis (Managing Director) and Simon Hinz (Product Development & IT) received the certificate and trophy. With the Tyre Pack for the tire industry, xpack has already implemented a promising project.
