Volvo Unveils Its New Emission-Free Hydrogen Fuel Cell Truck
20. June 2022At the end of April, the fulfillment center of the US specialist for consumer electronics and lighting in Oklahoma City celebrated its go-live. Together with Jasco, engineering and construction partner Burns & McDonnell, as well as intralogistics expert TGW, celebrated the project completion. The highly automated system sustainably increases productivity and also improves ergonomics for the employees. This provides an answer to the increasingly difficult search for labor.
(Marchtrenk) TGW expanded the existing fulfillment center in recent months with a powerful, future-proof system. With automation, Jasco lays the foundation for growth in the coming years. All work was carried out during ongoing operations to ensure reliable customer supply.
Shuttle as a Powerful Core
Incoming trucks are initially unloaded manually at the goods receiving area, and the boxes are transported via a conveyor technology network into the sorting loop. Employees then manually stack them onto pallets, which are stored in the high-bay warehouse. The latter supplies the four-aisle TGW shuttle system with replenishments, to which two ergonomic PickCenter One picking workstations are connected. These 1:1 goods-to-person workstations sustainably accelerate the order assembly and increase both efficiency and accuracy – making long distances for the pickers unnecessary.
The order containers are either transported directly to shipping or temporarily stored in a shuttle buffer. Orders are picked in boxes, sealed, and labeled. The assembly of pallets for shipping to B2B customers is handled by three TGW SlotStax palletizers. TGW Warehouse Software manages the control of the flow of goods and the complex processes.
Project Lays the Foundation for Growth
Jacob Rodriguez, Chief Operating Officer at Jasco, emphasizes:
“For us, it was clear: The concept from Burns & McDonnell and TGW meets all important performance indicators. Furthermore, automation improves safety and ergonomics and opens up new opportunities for our employees.”
Even after the go-live, Jasco continues to rely on the know-how and experience of TGW – and opts for a full-service contract with a duration of five years. The lifetime services specialists ensure that the highly automated system runs reliably at full performance – around the clock.
