22. June 2022As experts in organizing transport, forwarders have the necessary experience and a vision for how this area of the logistics industry can be optimized. To put this into practice, Transporeon is introducing ‘Freight Matching for Forwarders’. The new tool helps to drive the digital revolution in the forwarding industry and enhance the capabilities and know-how of forwarders.
“Freight Matching for Forwarders is a crucial step for the industry. While the way we transport freight from A to B has evolved significantly over the years, some fundamental principles have remained the same: Freight is passed from shippers to one or more forwarders and carriers. However, this is often a manual process fraught with numerous challenges,” says Gruziana Hoxha, Executive Director for Carrier Management at Transporeon.
In today’s dynamic market, forwarders are constantly searching for transport capacities. This often forces them to look beyond their familiar network. The assignment of contracts to subcontractors has always played a critical role in supply chains. Even large forwarders subcontract, as not every load can be perfectly managed within their own network. Nevertheless, resorting to subcontractors still carries a negative connotation and, not least, some risks.
Communication with Subcontractors Simplified
Key issues include interrupted information flows, loss of visibility during transport, poorer service quality and OTIF performance, as well as potential safety risks. Freight Matching addresses these challenges by maximizing the available capacities that forwarders have with transport companies in their existing network. This enables logistics teams to optimize the transport assignment process, allowing them to make the best use of their network without having to search elsewhere for available capacities. “This essentially ensures that the right forwarder is assigned to the right shipment at the right price – every time and for every single shipment,” adds Hoxha.
Supporting People Through Technology
In today’s supply chains, forwarders play a crucial role. For over 200 years, they have been consolidating capacities in the fragmented market and providing comprehensive transport services and an excellent customer experience. “We work in an industry where people are at the center. Relationships and partnerships can make all the difference here. With Freight Matching, we are adding great technology that enables forwarders to improve their transport assignment process, giving them more time to optimize existing relationships or build new partnerships.
Providing a Better Customer Experience
In this way, they can strengthen their network, develop new solutions, and offer an even better customer experience. Ultimately, the use of technology in the logistics industry is about making people’s lives easier while fostering collaboration and business growth. All of this is achieved through Freight Matching,” comments Stephan Sieber, CEO of Transporeon.
