31. July 2022With a revolutionary technology in the field of intralogistics, Exotec is now also impressing the German market. The French company has had a base in the Bavarian city of Landshut, near Munich, since 2021 and serves all customers from the DACH region, Scandinavia, and Eastern Europe from there with the support of integration partners.
(Landshut) Customers from the e-commerce, food retail, retail, manufacturing, and 3PL sectors have been using Exotec systems for their intralogistics since 2015. Exotec has recognized the industry’s need for more flexibility, scalability, and performance for every company and has found a solution for increasingly fast-paced supply chains. The Skypod system is Exotec’s revolutionary solution. Comprising robots that can move freely in space and climb up to twelve meters high in the shelves, the company offers businesses the opportunity to pick their goods quickly and safely using the “goods-to-person” approach. As a result, Exotec’s customers achieve higher storage density and up to five times higher throughput. Another advantage over the competition: Exotec’s system can be set up and installed up to 50 percent faster than other systems. Additionally, the system’s simple scalability during seasonal peaks allows robots to be temporarily added or removed from the system as needed thanks to a rental robot model.
Shaping the Future of Intralogistics with Exotec through State-of-the-Art Helpers
The centerpiece of Exotec’s system is the Skypod robots. With a load capacity of up to 30 kg, the Skypod robots efficiently store goods in and out of the shelves while moving at speeds of up to 4 meters per second. The highly advanced robots operate in fleets to assist employees in processing their orders more quickly. They continuously receive new orders, which are prioritized through the Astar software. Thanks to their low weight, the Skypods achieve very high dynamics with a speed of four meters per second.
As a suitable link between the Skypod robots and employees in the hall, the Skypicker also plays a role. The articulated arm robot allows for the picking of items weighing up to two kilograms and with a base area of at least 2 x 2 cm. It achieves a maximum speed of up to 2 meters per second and can pick up to 600 items per hour. The modern and innovative articulated arm robot can also be quickly and easily integrated as a plug-and-play module into any existing Skypod system.
Big Plans for Germany
Markus Schlotter is the Managing Director of Exotec Germany and is convinced that the market will continue to change in the coming years and that Exotec can contribute significantly to its progress:
“Through our revolutionary innovations in automated intralogistics, we have achieved a very strong development, gaining many existing customers and doubling our revenue year after year. We are very pleased with this and it also shows that our technology is valued and needed, which further motivates us to continuously improve and develop our solution. Germany offers a large market potential with renowned companies that all have the same goal: five out of five stars in customer satisfaction. With our innovative system, we are hitting the ‘nerve of the times,’ as I am not aware of any other system that allows a company to immediately respond to changing circumstances. The high demand shows that our customers have recognized this. We are already in talks with nationally known brands in Germany and are very much looking forward to the collaboration, which we will be able to discuss in more detail in the coming months.”
Currently, the focus is on the DACH market. New projects in Eastern Europe and the Scandinavian countries have already been requested.
