DB Cargo Italia Strengthens Its Infrastructure
7. August 2022Jungheinrich delivers its 100,000th vehicle with lithium-ion battery. The reach truck model ETV 216i was delivered along with 15 identical vehicles to the Amazon warehouse in Leipzig, where around 140 other Jungheinrich electric vehicles are already in operation. Today, lithium-ion batteries are standard equipment for emission-free electric mobility in warehouses.
(Hamburg/Leipzig) “The delivery of the 100,000th lithium-ion vehicle is a significant milestone for us at Jungheinrich, and we are very proud of it. As a pioneer of electric mobility in warehouses, we were the first manufacturer to adopt efficient lithium-ion technology, thereby sustainably changing our industry,” explains Jungheinrich’s Sales Board Member Christian Erlach.
Today, lithium-ion batteries are standard equipment for emission-free electric mobility in warehouses. They are particularly characterized by their energy efficiency. An electric forklift with a lithium-ion battery emits less than half the CO2 compared to a diesel forklift of the same performance class over its entire lifetime, including its production. By using electricity from renewable energy sources, the CO2 emissions of the vehicles in operation can even be reduced by up to 90 percent compared to combustion engines. Thus, lithium-ion technology plays a crucial role in making intralogistics more sustainable.
Lithium-ion forklifts since 2011
In 2011, Jungheinrich was the world’s first manufacturer of industrial trucks to launch a series vehicle with a lithium-ion battery on the market. Since then, the technology has developed into the fastest-growing battery technology for industrial trucks. It impresses with reliably high performance, reduced energy consumption, fast charging times, maintenance-free operation, and long lifespan. In 2018, Jungheinrich was the first manufacturer to launch vehicles with fully integrated lithium-ion batteries (POWERLiNE) on the market. By 2025, Jungheinrich aims to achieve a share of 70 percent lithium-ion vehicles in its sold fleet.
Shorter and more comfortable
The ETV 216i delivered to the Amazon warehouse in Leipzig is a vehicle from the Jungheinrich POWERLiNE. With the concept of integrated lithium-ion batteries, Jungheinrich has once again set a new industry standard with the POWERLiNE. In design and construction, the POWERLiNE vehicles consistently exploit all the advantages of lithium-ion batteries: they are shorter, safer, and more comfortable than any industrial trucks before them. This creates what is most precious in the warehouse: space.
Delivery of forklifts CO2-neutral
Another special feature of the POWERLiNE: The vehicles are completely CO2-neutral until delivery to the customer. This is ensured by particularly sustainable and energy-efficient production as well as certified measures to compensate for the currently unavoidable emissions during production. Jungheinrich invests in solar, wind, and biomass projects for this purpose. “We are particularly pleased that our 100,000th lithium-ion forklift is a vehicle from the Jungheinrich POWERLiNE,” says Erlach.
