L.I.T. Cargo and L.I.T. Air & Sea Expand Their Management Boards
13. August 2022The Austrian logistics service provider Gebrüder Weiss is expanding its partnership with Toyota Motor in Kazakhstan. In Almaty, the largest city in the country, the logistics provider has also taken over spare parts distribution to the dealers of the Japanese car manufacturer this year. Existing services include automobile transportation throughout Kazakhstan, deliveries of parts within Almaty, and warehousing logistics.
(Lauterach/Almaty) The Kazakh market is of great importance to Toyota. In 2021, the car manufacturer sold about 14,000 vehicles there – which corresponds to a share of around twelve percent of the total automotive market in the country. “We want to continue to grow in Kazakhstan. For this, we need a reliable logistics partner who is well acquainted with the local conditions. Gebrüder Weiss has been convincing us with high service quality for more than a decade,” says Damira Alpysbayeva, Logistics Manager of Toyota Motor Kazakhstan.
Kazakhstan is also an attractive growth market for companies from Germany and Austria, as it is the most important Central Asian trading partner. Austrian exports include pharmaceuticals, machinery, measuring instruments, paper, and metal goods, which are mainly used in the oil industry. Gebrüder Weiss has been present in Kazakhstan since 2007 and has since become an established logistics service provider in industry and trade. The service portfolio includes land transport (also multimodal), air and sea freight services, customs clearance, warehousing logistics, and supply chain management.
Central Logistics Hub on the New Silk Road
Kazakhstan is becoming increasingly important as a central transshipment point on the route of the New Silk Road – especially as alternative transport routes are currently in high demand due to sanctions against Russia. Additionally, the country benefits from its favorable geographical location, making Kazakhstan an ideal hub for the trade of goods between China, Europe, and West Asia. Gebrüder Weiss also operates locations along the New Silk Road in Turkey, Georgia, Armenia, Uzbekistan, and China.
