Solvium Capital Experiences High Demand for Swap Bodies
16. August 2022Kick-off for Burgwedel 2.0: After almost two years of intensive planning and negotiation, ROSSMANN is starting the construction of a new logistics center in Burgwedel. In direct proximity to the company headquarters, a building of approximately 42,000 m² for the regional warehouse Burgwedel and for ROSSMANN Online will be built over the next one and a half years for 100 million euros.
(Burgwedel) Under the guiding principle of planning a logistics warehouse explicitly tailored to the requirements of ROSSMANN logistics, a future-proof, sustainable, and ecological concept has been developed in collaboration with the general planner phase 5 international GmbH, which is now being realized with the general contractor Köster GmbH.
“With today’s groundbreaking ceremony, we are setting the course for the implementation of our project. With the new logistics warehouse and the ergonomic workplace design there, we are not only permanently increasing productivity by 20 percent but also sustainably protecting the health of our employees,” says Michael Rybak, Managing Director.
Fast Order Processing
With the new building, modern technology for logistics is also being introduced. Networked logistics systems, for example, support the picking of orders, while intelligent conveyor technology ensures a continuous flow of goods in the warehouse. This way, the growing demands on the customer side – such as the constant availability of products and the quick processing of orders – can be met even better.
“In the new warehouse, the functions of a regional distribution center and the online warehouse are combined in a flexible complex. With the integrated concept, we are responding to the wishes of our customers and can quickly and easily send the goods to their homes or for pickup in our stores. In addition to our standard range, we offer over 3,500 online-exclusive items in the ROSSMANN online shop,” adds Michael Rybak.
Old Warehouse to be Used for Connection Logistics
The currently used high-bay warehouse in Burgwedel from 2001 has not only become too small, but the renovation effort is also increasing with regard to its age. However, it will not remain empty – after modernization, it will be used for various logistical connections.
Regarding sustainability, the new building sets new standards and will be constructed in accordance with the certification system of the DGNB. A photovoltaic system will be installed on the roof, and other areas will be greened. The outdoor area will also be planted with wildflowers and grasses for insects.
Completion in March 2024
Around 550 employees will be employed at the logistics warehouse in Burgwedel. According to the current planning status, completion is scheduled for the end of March 2024.
